This is terrifyingly good. Yeah, right? I even played until 25,000 and well, the game tells you you are broke and you have to burglarize aigan so, there is no real ending. On the hand it sucks, but on the other hand it somehow emphasizes the weird nature of the game, doesn't it,makes it even more surreal. You can not save grandma, there is no real winning in gambling;)

I didn't get that far, but I am not surprised at that. Still neat.

I'm going to post this rec before my article goes up (because that will probably take months ), so I implore you to please play Masochisia. It's an adventure game made by a guy named Jon Oldblood (as in I think that might literally be his last name) about a boy who starts having visions of horrifying beings that want him to do things to his abusive family. It's not for the faint of heart, and I'm giving massive warnings if you've had to deal with abuse in the past, but it is kind of incredible. I really can't say much more without spoiling the effect. Takes about two hours to finish. It's on Steam, though the listed requirements are incorrect, I played on a weaker system with about 2.1 GHz.

What I love of itch.io is that it brings me back to a "simpler" time of indie games in the 2000s. Of course, you have to wade in the midst of a lot of garbage there too, but with some patience you can find some nice stuff. For example, this one:
Looks like a Bubble Bobble inspired game from the times of Amiga and Atari ST.

How do you keep finding these games ^^? I don't post everything I find on itch.io, it's only the tip of the iceberg. I just can advice everyone to take a look through it. There are tons of crap, for shure, but the good ones are really good and the hit rate is way higher than with, say, kongregate or newgrounds.

Also, a lot of the games on itch.io are free, and even though I'd say the average quality of a free game on there might be lower than one that isn't, there's still a lot of great stuff if you're on a tight budget.

Maldita Castilla has been released on Xbox One, simply as Maldita Castilla EX. Highlights are a remastered soundtrack and two new levels. Price is however quite steep ($11.99), not much for the quality of the game but for the fact it was originally free and, even with the added content, it's still quite short. The announcement tweet says that other systems are to be confirmed eventually, so hopefully it will come to PC, too.
