I need like a serious walk through on how to get this stuff going. My key goal is to at least be able to play some CD-I games on it, but I feel like I'm getting nowhere. Hate not being tech savy. Anywho, I'm pretty sure I downloaded MESS, but it keeps telling me it was unable to initialize Direct3D whenever I try to run CD-I. If anyone could give me some instructions on what to do it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance.

Run the games fullscreen or fiddle with the emulators display settings.

I tried it at fullscreen and it wouldn't let me begin the DOS box. It just informs me that Direct3D wouldn't initialize and closes up. I couldn't find the emulator's display settings though.

DOS box?
Isn't MESS windows based? If not, get the windows version.

Your issue might be that you don't have a hardware 3D accelerator, or your DirectX or video drivers are not up to date. There should be an option somewhere in the Default Game Options to disable Direct3D mode.
