Stage music for Bio-Hazard Battle used on stages 1 and 8. Bio-Hazard Battle has my favorite soundtrack of any Genesis game. Why? Probably because it sounds like no other. The soundtrack has a very organic feel to it, and features a lot of droning and throbbing elements. It works well with the visuals and enhances the mood ten fold. Seriously, listen to the stage 5 music and tell me you don't feel like you're being crushed under the ocean. The entire soundtrack can be downloaded from Project 2612 here. You'll need a plugin for your music program which can be found on the home page. I use XMPlay and it works like a charm.

Like I was saying, the Sega CD version of Ecco is worth it for the soundtrack alone.

The strange echo in this video is not actually present in the game, but it really fits, making it even more haunting.

Always thought this one was pretty catchy.
Wouldn't describe this as 'kickass', but I like it.

Alundra: The Wind That Shook the Earth
It's music that absolutely screams to me "You're going on an adventure, and it's going to be AWESOME."
Shadow of the Colossus: Revived Power
One of my favorite VG soundtracks of the last few years, and my favorite track from the game, so sweeping and epic.

Granted, it's for a Mega Man fangame that isn't out yet, but it's certainly epic.
Starts out tricking you into boredom, then... FUNKINESS. Axelay has some godly music.

Axelay owns one of the best soundtracks on the SNES. Specifically:
I had a special save state on ZSNES just for listening to this, I can barely think of few tracks that seem so ridiculously triumphant.

I can't help but feel like Toshiharu Yamanishi wanted to include Peaches en Regalia in the soundtrack to Thunder Force IV, but could only sneak away with the intro chord progression and had to develop a song around that.
