Sorry! Been busy lately, but here are some recent article postings, including one for The Dig, one of LucasArt's lesser regarded adventure games, but still a decent game nonetheless: www.hardcoregaming101.net/thedig/thedig.htmIt's not as heavy one dialogue or characterization as LucasArts' other games, nor is it as funny, but it's still worth a go, and worth grabbing on Steam or the like.

Well, my list of adventure games to cover is dwindling, so you probably should see coverage to return to "normal" within the next few months or so. I've got a few waiting in the wings but I need to finish them up, and I've been too busy on other projects.
Still, though, one of the reasons I've been covering these is to try to broaden the views of my readers. Too many retro game sites neatly partition PC and console gaming, and I don't think that should be the case, especially now that they've very much converged in the last few years. While I love obscure coverage of weird, wacky and generally unknown stuff, there are a lot of these types of adventure games that are more historically relevant - and even more interesting - than Offbeat Japanese Arcade Beat-em-up #271.

I mucked around with Famicom Tantei Club a bit, but my patience grew thin trying to wade through the Japanese. Something may come of it someday, though.

I liked this site when I first found it, but I started to like it even more when PC gaming related articles started to appear.

De nada. The Dig is probably my least favorite LucasArts adventure title, all things considered. Not a bad game, but it just felt like the development hell took a toll on the final product, and I sense that it could have been more than what it turned out to be. I really would have liked to see Brian Moriarty's morbid take on it, but this was sadly not to be.

I also would have liked to see a Moriarty Dig version.

I was always bothered by how great the atmosphere was until the end where it sort of went all hugs, kisses and rainbows.
Although I love how at the end Brink gets like half a throwaway line "And I'm free of the crystal's madness" after being dead AGAIN and no one seems to care. Go team.

The end was the major failure I think. As lame as it sounds, I was hoping for a much more depressing and isolated ending. The whole game was sparse and had a creepy atmosphere. You felt like you couldn't trust your teammates and that everything was hopeless. It was a ridiculous turn of pace for the end to be like that.
The art style of the animated cutscenes also didn't fit the art style in game I think. Something weird about how they characters looked and moved around like blobby pieces of skin didn't sit right with me. The ending was almost all that. I prefer the solid construction of the animated characters on Full Throttle. Something about that seemed way more pro even those in many aspects, Full Throttle didn't have a ton going for it in prerendered avi type scenes even though the in game characters of Full Throttle looked much more advanced than the in game characters of The Dig.
