Tentative thoughts:
MML3? HALLELULAH. 3DS? Uhm.
I guess it'll sell a 3DS for me, maybe. I don't really want one, my DS barely gets used. This and a good Metroidvania would seal the deal, though. Or even just a new ouendan and no region locking.

Yeah, it being on a handheld is just really depressing for me, but somehow it seemed unrealistic to expect anything else. It's a sequel to PS1 games and probably won't deviate too far from them, so it wouldn't need the raw power of the PS3 or 360 to run it... plus handhelds are where you dump a game to make bunches of money these days, it seems. At least it won't look worse than the first two games, so it won't necessarily suffer going to the 3DS (actually, I expect it'll look pretty good).

Good news. I don't mind personally that it will be on a handheld, but I hope it will have voice-acting like the previous games in the series.

The 3DS is pretty powerful for a handheld, it is getting a straight port of Street Fighter 4 after all; so I expect this game to be voiced and have rockin' graphics. Hopefully Capcom does not disappoint everyone. This is crazy news...what next Shenmue 3:-p

I think I'd still rather have had a PSP version, honestly. Or even better a digitally released game? PSN/Live!/Steam?
Mostly just my inertia against getting a 3DS.

No way! It's by Valhalla Game Studios who have plans to totally redesign Roll and Tron Bonne- Don't joke. For the good of the company, that needs to be a reality for Tron at least.

Yeah, everyone seems to forget that this thing's an almost-PS360 in your hands graphically, so it'll totally be able to handle the "It's just like an anime" beautiful-ness we'd expect from an MML3. I welcome this with open arms.

For me practically every handheld game is an inferior version of a console or arcade game. Thumbs up for the DS offering something different, but even so many of the touchscreen features are shoehorned into most games. The technology the game runs on dictates its limitations and, so far, every handheld is weaker than a console. I feel they are smaller games on smaller machines which is why I hardly bother with them.
This does not mean all handheld games are inherently terrible, there are plenty of great ones... but most of those great ones could have been better on a larger screen, running on more powerful hardware. And I just don't like the idea of taking games with me everywhere, because when I'm out of the house I'm busy with other stuff.
Hope this doesn't muck up a thread about a much-awaited sequel, I'm just shedding some light on how it's possible for a person to not like handhelds.

Titles like Resident Evil and the MGS3 port look nothing like PSP games. And these are first generation games mind you.
But yes, some of those other titles look awful. Probably because they are in a very early state.

The fact that I'll have to buy a new portable system doesn't really bother me in this particular instance. I've been waiting for this game far too long to care about what platform it's on.
