Oh yeah, Inafune is not Mega Man's creator. I don't know why people keep referring to him as such. Then who is? Tokuro Fujiwara?

I don't think it's been explicitly pointed out, because even Inafune just refers to him as "his mentor" or something vague like that. I think someone was able to infer who he was talking about.
Regardless, Inafune's played a huge role in the series even though he may not have explicitly created him, so that doesn't entirely diminish his influence.

This is what was written in Mega Man: Official Complete Works ("R20 Rockman" in Japan) artbook: "I knew absolutely nothing about what it takes to create a game when I was thrust into the Mega Man team, in a position where I would be responsible for the characters. In an unfamiliar world surrounded by unknowns, I was finding out all too quickly what would be expected of me. It was really fun, but just insanely hectic. The guy who put this whole project in motion was my mentor. He began his career as a designer, and he was the one who created the original forms of Mega Man, Roll, and Dr. Light as dot graphics. I then took these images and turned them into illustrations, giving them motion and making adjustments to their designs." (Inafune) |

I really hate the new, "official" design for the new heroine. I preferred Suetsugu's in the first place, but I'd be okay with the new one if they had just left her hair alone. It looks like shit now. I can't believe they fucked it up so badly. Her bangs are terrible. They will be a permanent blight on the franchise from this day forward.
maybe not that bad, but seriously, what the fuck Capcom

Approved! I doubt any of Tron's war machines can ever look bad in the history of forever.

What is that third form supposed to be?
It goes man, crab... octopus? Is that what that is?
EDIT: Awesome transforming design, though. I love it when all the bits are accounted for and don't just disappear into mechspace.

I think it's supposed to be reptilian or perhaps amphibian.

I don't mind the new girl character's design that much. As for being moe, it's not like Tron or Roll were that far away from being moe either. I wasn't crazy about her from the initial sketch, but she looks better in this new picture.

I'm okay with the basic design, but it seems like they knocked her age down a few years from the initial design submission. But really all we've got is the one promo pic to go on.
