Okay, this has been tearing me apart for awhile now. I have a PC-Engine RX, but I don't have Valis 3. Problem is, the English version is realtively difficult to find. So should I just give in and buy the Japanese version?

Why not? Granted you won't be able to understand the storyline, but you can probably find a summary or translation somewhere.

Go for it! Platformers are never text heavy!

Alright then. I mean, chances are that the VA would have been so terrible I wouldn't be able to focus on the storyline.

I don't remember the English voice acting for Valis III. I remember 2, it's REALLY bad. Hilariously so, the point where I'd recommend it over the Japanese version.

The voice acting in Valis III TGCD is pretty bad, although not as quite as bad as Valis II. If you get the Japanese version, the English voiceovers (and text) are all you'll be missing. There's no other differences between the two that I can recall.
