Psychonauts. I played it nonstop from begining to the end in about 5 days, and was already considering a second go when I finished it. Amen to that.I devoured it in a couple of days.

I might add Beyond Good & Evil to the list, finishing it was like finishing a good book. Too bad they axed any plan for a sequel because of poor sales.

Ninja Gaiden Black. I bought it first day it came out (I didn't really want the original because Black had so much more stuff, except for Ninja Gaiden I - III), and played it strait till I beat it (I almost broke the disk playing the final boss, who they beefed up). Just got into the game again about a week ago, and it's as addicting as ever!

Hmmm...probably Baten Kaitos.
I'd put down Suikoden Tactics, but the permenate character death, and the annoying critical hits that some enemies get to cause them, prevent that. (I can't STAND to have any character die permanetly in SRPGs, and when one does, I usually take a break for a day before I try again)

I think mine'd be Umihara Kawase (SNES). When I started playing it I just had to tell everyone about it and get through every level (Wich I still havn't really done). The game's just such a different platformer than any of the other ones i've been playing.

I think it was Double Dragon Advance. I recommended it to friends, posted about it to message boards, etc.
Or maybe Siren. I don't remember which came out later.

I think Shadow Hearts: Covenant, shortly followed by Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, were the last games to really enthrall me, and that was back in late 2004.
The closest since were Wild ARMs 4 and WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2006, but I got Final Dungeon Apathy from WA4 and SDvR06 I just have a lot of fun with and play a lot; though I am somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to CAW-ing.

I'd have to say Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana, before that, Resident Evil 4 played it through 3 times in 2 weeks on 2 systems.

I'd have to say Phantasy Star 2 and 4....3 to an extant. I was rabid for those games way back and a lot about them really influenced my art style. When I play the PSO games, it just isn't the same at all and I get pretty grumpy about it.
Going back, those games are incredibly tough and monotonous though. It's too bad I've been spoiled by the interesting innovations in RPGs that have been made over the years, but that umph the PS games had weren't in the gameplay.
I think I'd give a left arm to play through an update in the true vein of the series though PSO is entertaining.
Along those lines, the Shin Megami Tensei games have always enthralled me though I really hate first person dungeon games. I'm really having a hard time picking up the PS2 games for fear of disappointment. But then again, I really loved the Persona games. *shrug*
