So, I'm getting a tad bit depressed. The new consoles are rolling around wich means some of my favorite game series are to get the hammer. It really pains me to see that future generations wont have Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter. It's definitely a dying age for the fighting game genre.
You guys thoughts?

No more Street Fighter sucks so much. I'm absolutely in love with Third Strike, and I feel that Capcom showed give it another chance. Say, a Street Fighter game with every character from 1, 2, 3, Alpha, and EX? That would be ridiculously amazing.

Well, the way i see it we're losing three series
Street Fighter Guilty Gear and the 2d KOF games. I'm pretty damn sure street fighter may be around but dont expect to see it in 2d ever again. I cant qutie grasp guilty gear going 3d so single it out

Capcom said they will work on Street Fighter 4 if the new ones would sell well (probably Street Fighter Alpha Anthology).

Somehow I doubt they'd axe KOF, considering that the Maximum Impact series has been selling pretty well (to my knowledge).

Well apparently midway wont be axing MK, But with a "Clean Slate" for the new console. EG; why the last games name is "Aramageddon" Only a handful of characters will be making the transition from MK Armageddon to the Next Gen Systems

Guilty Gear may stick around on PC. As several incarnatations of it (Isuka aside) have found their way on to it.

The Guilty Gear will live on in the portable consoles of all, along with the fact that you can't completely kill 2D. Ever.

What i don't understand, Is why not take the smash bros approach. Render the characters in full-3d (I wonder what Ky Kiske will look like if he was on PS3?) and the backgrounds to. But put them with "2d mechanics"

But put them with "2d mechanics" It's possible, but 2D animation is way more precise (is that the right word?) I don't wanna see guilty in 3D, it will ruin the game's unique style
