So who's excited for more Spencer this Wednesday? This time with a mustache?
I'm kind of sad it's not also releasing on Steam, but oh well. Tearing into this game Thursday night at the latest.

I'm looking forward to it, though a small slice of my psyche is a bit cautiously optimistic (no, not just for the jump button). Still, I'm grabbing the demo, of this I am certain.

Call me a heathen if you like but the 3d Bionic Commando proved to me that jumping in a Bionic Commando game is totally rad

If the game has good level design, the jump won't detract from the Bionic Commando spirit. If anything, it should add some more interesting options and open up opportunities for more diverse levels. Like, not only would you have to consider swing distance, but possible jump distance in as well. At least it could make for some much improved platforming segments. That's what I hope for anyway, and I'll have to check out the demo to see for myself.

There's an achievement for beating the game without jumping, just so you guys know that you can indeed beat it without needing to jump.

And you can supposedly disable jumping in the options. In the meantime, here's a CPS2 remix of the Level 1 theme. www.youtube.com/watch?v=arsPHr9zVjs...If Capcom ported these games to the 3DS, I'd be a very happy puppy.

Dang. My hopes are slightly dashed then, because that means the jumps aren't necessary to completing a level and the mechanic has basically been relegated to "easy mode" status.

I have yet to get the first Rearmed. I beat the NES game a couple years ago, so I've been planning on getting the first Rearmed (as well as the 3D game) at some point, but I don't know when that'll be. After them, then I'll get Rearmed 2.

I can't find people actually talking about this game because they're too busy bitching about the DRM, which, like Final Fight, requires you to be online to play. It's...stupid, but it's not a WHAT NO BUY thing. But anyway, thoughts:
-The new physics definitely take awhile to get used to, but after an hour it feels quite natural.
-30 FPS NOOOOO. Give me my PC release! The graphics have been improved though.
-Level design is more coherent - when not strapped to the original NES' (somewhat haphazard) level design, they pull off some pretty good stuff, mostly because the levels are so huge and have lots of hidden stuff. Granted, I seem to be missing a lot of it so far because it requires equipment I haven't found yet.
-Mustaches ahoy. Script is really cheesy but amusing. The Metroid Prime-style scanner has some great stuff when inspecting random items. Like the exploding barrels, it says something like "if you don't know what these are for, then you're probably in over your head."
-Music is fantastic, again. I'm really tempted to lug my PS3 and hook it up to my computer to record some of the music. The "main theme" also has a fantastic remix during the credits. A few songs are remixed from the original game too.
-I tried not jumping in the first stage, but I got over myself and it's actually a lot of fun and well implemented. It actually adds an extra bit of depth to jump and hook something, and it's useful to climb over barrels and such instead of lifting them or going around. It doesn't ever seem to be necessary but it is quite helpful.
-Boss battles are lame so far, though.
I'm only 4 stages in so I can't say a definitive opinion, but thumbs up so far.

Crap, it's 1200 points? I'm sure it's worth it, I was just hoping for another deal, like the original. I'll probably be picking this up tomorrow

It's...stupid, but it's not a WHAT NO BUY thing. I dunno, it comes pretty damn close to being a no buy thing for me. I *hate* mandatory internet connections for single-player games. It may not be a problem right now, but ten years down the line, who knows if the authentication servers will still be running? Mandatory online activation sucks, and needing a constant internet connection during a game sucks too. Instead of being something I own, it makes the purchase feel more like a long-term rental. Of course, I'll still buy it, but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about their draconian security measures.

Wait, it has DRM on the PS3 and Xbox? Oh, well. I've bought probably dozens of indie games by now that have the same thing about them.
