Hello!

New at the forums, but I've been an HG101 visitor for years and finally registered. Though this is my first time selling here, I want to let y'all know that I've been selling stuff in Ancient Land of Ys since 2005 back when I sold my copy of Oath in Felghana for the PC.

Anyway, today I'm selling a backwards compatible (Yes you can play PS2 games!) PS3 system with an upgraded 160Gb hard drive!

Price: $199.95!

Shipping depends on location (PM me your address for a price quote), but expect it to be pricey due to weight (we're looking at around $25-ish shipping price).

This package includes
- Playstation 3 backwards compatible system, with upgraded 160Gb Hard Drive, 4 USB ports, and slots for SD card (taken out on later models).
- Power Cable
- HDMI Cable
- Audio/Video Cable
- no controller

Condition:

This system works, and I've just been playing FFXIII with it this week.

The Playstation 3 has scratches on the top, but you can probably take it out with some wipes of a scratch remover.

PLEASE READ:

This is a demo unit that requires you to enter a code in the security settings to access some features. I'll give you the code on purchase, though this info is widely available with a simple google search. However, because this is a demo unit, you cannot access online features such as Playstation Store.

Oh and PayPal payments only.

Updated info about online functionality - turns out that despite being able to register and log in to PSN, you can't access the store even if you enter the demo unlock code, and I got no online multiplayer games to test online gaming. Still pretty damn cheap for a backwards compatible console.

Also, removed the controller, and instead am sending you an HDMI cable.

Will get myself a Dual Shock 3 controller for free next week. I'm planning to include that in this package since I don't need a spare controller. Will update product description again then!

Oh no problem at all, I understand.

As mentioned, I've sold a bunch of stuff in Ancient Land of Ys.
(Off the top of my head - Ys OiF LE, Pandora Battery, and recently PSP 3000). You can also find me on eBay with 166 100% feedback.

Also note that I'm selling this same console on eBay, but at a higher price to make up for the fee eBay charges me as a seller.

I'll post some pictures in a bit.

That's good enough for me if I decide to bite; still waiting on pics, though. How exactly did you come into possession of a demo unit to begin with? Friend that works at a gamestop?

Also, I'm not seeing a controller mentioned anywhere?

I'll post pics when I get my nads on my sister's camera - we got conflicting schedules but I'll get the pictures as soon as I get em.

I bought this online. Thought it was pretty cheap for the features though it turns out I want to go online, and I heard you need to hack the demo unit if you wanna use the online features.

There is no controller included here - hence the really low price.

Nice offer, but the number of caveats makes me want to pass. Shipping will run me, what? $30 or so? A new controller would be another $40. That's $270 right there, and I can get a new PS3 for $300. PS2 backwards compatibility is definitely tempting, but at this point it would be more of a convenience than a must, as I still own a working PS2. The demo unit codes and iffy online just don't seem worth the hassle.

In this case, I'd say you get what you're paying for. The whole reason for wanting a system with backwards compatibility is for convenience. There's nothing convenient about having to enter demo codes all the time, let alone not being able to get online.

Is this a CECHA or CECHE system? I have a hunch it's the former.

Also, is it possible at all to take it out of demo mode so that you don't have to enter the key every time? (If it works just like a retail unit after the key's entered, I could probably get over it.)

I'm not absolutely sure, but I think it's CECHA.

I think the demo code is only needed if you want to be able to connect to PSN which is pointless since you cannot use the online features anyway unless you hack the console - which is what I heard is the reason there are people buying the demo systems instead of the retail versions.

BTW good news:
I might be getting a spare Dual Shock 3 controller next week for free. Since I only play multiplayer when I come over to my friends' house, I don't need a spare controller for myself.
So when it gets here, I might just include that controller in this package at the same price I advertised.
