Acording to the NES Good collection there is no (J) Strider. So, taking into account that all officially released NES/famicom games are dumped I have to say that there is no Japanese Strider.
I don't find it so surprising considering that none of those Genesis, SMS, Gamegear, etc Strider 2 games were released in Japan. Neither did the GameGear Megaman.

Ahhhhhhhhh... this popped up recently on The Third Moon too... a probably theory explained by one of the forum members was something to the extent of... "there was very little altered, and we were given a bad English translation when the game was brought over here. There's a good possibility that what us Americans got was the Beta without all of the bugs being worked out."
You must admit, Strider on the NES has quite a few glitches.

I've spoken to a couple of Japanese Famicom fans, and they said that indeed, Strider was never released there. I sent one of them a copy of the NES game, which made him quite happy. I also sent him copies of Snake's Revenge, Contra Force and Monster Party, which made him even happier.
And yes, I get some Fami exclusive games in return...

Why wasn't monster party released in Japan? I mean, the first stage is pretty freaky, but its pretty tame after that. Lord knows Sweet Home is FAR worse.
