A Xanadu OVA? How did I missed that? Added to the list! Moreover, I have to add new entries like Persona 4 and the latest Touhou anime (which is great and from a very famous Touhou doujin circle). By the way, all these "Anime adaptions of videogames sucks" comments I read here and there are getting old: anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=cmt&id=37388&page=1#c236825

I kinda liked the Super Robot Wars OG anime. The Street Fighter II animated movie and the Fatal Fury ones were pretty awesome, too. Tales of the Abyss was also a pretty strong adaptation.
All the other ones I've seen were really bad, though. I think the worst ones I saw were Final Fantasy Unlimited, Ragnarok: The Animation, and Devil May Cry. Persona Trinity Soul was also really bad, which sucks as it had some promise before it devolved into idiocy.
Battle Arena Toshinden is generically awful, too. But with the English dub it becomes AMAZINGLY awful. It's excellent in a MST3k sort of way.

I'm angry that the DVDs were so limited run (and expensive) for the first series and OVA....it really pissed me off because I liked it too. Art of Fighting OVA is terrible. The Ys anime is generic but I enjoyed it.

I've always loved Street Fighter II V. I need to complete the series online.

Hey Vetus, nice work mate. Your list is really impressive. As for your first question, the OVA is based on the videogame. That means its inspired from it and nothing more. It uses 2 of the main characters in the series Yuu and Saya ~they were protagonists in Cosmic 1, 4, 4 part-2. They also made some cameo appearances in Cosmic Fantasy 2,3 but they are not mains there~ in a completely new scenario. Back in the day, Cosmic Fantasy and PC-Engine were quite popular in Japan. Wow! Ryuuki Denshou has its own anime? Never heard of that. Anyway, its an RPG with tactical elements. You can call it tRPG similar to Legend of Heroes series especially in the battle scenes. The game is a port/remake of the PC-98 version which is also had released back in '97 for the PCs as well with the name Ryuuki Denshou Plus. Theres also Ryuuki Denshou Plus 2. To be more specific the PS version is more similar to the Plus 1 version. I read that the OVA is based on the videogame, story wise its the same. But they included some scenes that they dont appeal to the game. Good luck! EDIT : Sorry, I missed the Rebirth Moon. According to the official site the anime is based on the videogame. They have not the same scenario. They took advantage of their strong anime studio and released the anime in order to promote their product. Rebirth Moon is a typical tactical RPG (trpg) in the same style of Final Fantasy Tactics, Hoshigami etc Ideaf has also released an enchanced port of the ps2 game for the xbox360.

I made an update on the list included The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky OVA which will be released at the end of November. I'm currently watching Persona 4 and it's as great as I expected and a faithful adaption of the game which has a wonderful story. And it's quite popular even with people who have never played the game before. Recommended to everyone. I'm also watching Bomberman Jetters these days (even thought I have downloaded it years ago I only saw an episode back then so I decided to give it a second chance now) and it's suprisingly good. Note that I'm a Bomberman maniac. From the anime I watched weeks ago was Power Dolls. As I expected it's not something great but at least it has the '90s cheezy feeling I love in this kind of anime and the mecha action was not bad. By the way, has anyone seen Sonic X? I have seen many episodes of it till I got bored in my iPod at work. Nice try but they could do better. The biggest disadvantage is that it was too "americanized". I know, Sonic francise is incredibly popular in America and the show was aimed to little kids but that's not an excuse to make the silly concept "Sonic goes to America and be friend with a rich little kid that has almost no human friends". That's too '80s (and not in the good way)! Closing my post let's give the prize for the best anime finale on F-Zero: The Street Fighter II animated movie and the Fatal Fury ones were pretty awesome, too. You like Fatal Fury but not Persona Trinity Blood? Man, Fatal Fury was mediocre to awful, if not as awful as Art of Fighting. Then again I'm not the one who can talk since I'm maybe the only person in the universe who likes Tekken anime movie while everyone else consider it as one of the worst anime ever released.

If I still remember, there'll be a Dragon Age anime, too.

Super Robot Wars OG - The Inspector and the two Ganbare Goemon OVAs (thanks to HG101's article for Ganbare Goemon francise) added to the list. I also made some corrections. Sometime I'll have to add some other anime like one of the latest Resident Evil movies, some Idolmaster OVA/special/whatever...and I'm pretty sure that there some other new anime based on videogames that I can't recall at the moment.
