I know Wyrwad already posted about this over at Ancient Land of Ys, but I'm too flabbergasted not to share here.
GI has a two-page spread dedicated to Falcom's 30th anniversary built around an interview with Kondo at the end of this month's issue. It actually goes into a bit of depth, discussing not only Ys, but Legend of Heroes, Dragon Slayer and other Falcom franchises at length.
That's not to say GI is totally incompetent or anything, but it's definitely a more affluent topic than I'm used to in a mag I keep beside the shitter.

Yeah, it's pretty awesome, isn't it? Really great, well-informed, well-written article overall. Beautiful stuff!

GI is funny. Sometimes they hit the nail right on the head and other times I read the stuff and think, "...huh?" (For me, comparing their surprisingly glowing Mega Man X8 review with their a-little-too-glowing Lords of Shadow review. Or their loving writeup of Contra 4 to the 7.25 they gave to The Dracula X Chronicles.)

I'm quite frankly amazed that GI's writers even know what Falcom is, much less celebrate it.

It's kind of like if your pet cat just walked up and started talking to you in perfect English. I mean, yeah, it would be really impressive coming from a cat, but it would still just be bloody weird.

^ lol
Cool! It's nice to see Falcom getting some love in a US magazine in this day and age.

This is pretty unusual, I will be picking it up now. I love me some Ys.

Hm. The interview has them looking forward to the NGP a lot. If Falcom is supporting the NGP, I know where my money will end up going, just for Ys.

Weird that they'd publish something like this when they didn't even bother to review Ys Seven or Oath in Felghana when they released (though they did pan the DS version of 1 + 2 some time before that).

Funny because I recall reading reviews for both games in GI. Do you happen to recall which issues? I'd be surprised if I missed both altogether...
