I think I was reading the SMT article on Wikipedia, cause I had just become infatuated with Nocturne. There was a link to HG101's article on the bottom of the page.

I'd been reading HG101 since before Kurt opened a forum - I'm not sure how I started reading this. Possibly a link from a forum somewhere.

I don't remember how either, but I went back to check the threads where I know I posted first. I used to "write" articles for this site in the beginning, and Kurt used to rewrite them as to make them readable, and the first one was OutRun in April 2006. I didn't know there was a forum back then, but I'm pretty sure I joined a month later.
It's funny to see how some of you are still around: Sotenga, MP83, Weasel, NeoRasa (yeah right), megatronbison, dire51. But a lot of people are long gone: Gilder, YourAverageJoe, Drawsome(Dale), aggroger, Malroth.

I think I first found the site after coming across it's Cho Aniki article...joined the forums in 2006 and have loved dipping in and out since!

I used to write for a pretty decent nintendo fan site that went by the name of Nintelligent and was pretty active at those forums. However the place started to fall apart and I resigned from the site planning to migrate to another forum (I had some dumb habit of doing that every two years or so back then). Before I did though I noticed a thread I think Dooz or someone else posted about this place and liked what I saw but didn't stick around. A little later I noticed Kurt mentioned the site again in an update on the Castlevania Dungeon linking the Pheonix Wright article and it hit me that he owned both websites.
I liked the reviews on that website so I figured I'd follow the site more closely and eventually joined the forums. And now I haven't had any desire to find another place to semi lurk.

I believe Kurt made a post about creating HG101 on one of his updates over at the Dungeon. I've been reading the articles since the beginning, but didn't join the forums until 2008. This is a bit of an aside, but the Castlevania Dungeon will always remind me of my college years. I ran across that site by accident while working on an assignment in class (something to do with manually recreating the .exe for DOS Lemmings, I think). It wasn't long after that when OPM mentioned the place in one of their issues.
Goddamn. Printed gaming magazines. It really has been a long time.
-edit-
Ha. Just looked any my user pic on the post, and it says I joined in 2007. Maybe I just didn't start posting until 2008.

I've been going to HG101 and all the related sites since they started up; I really don't know how I got to the forum from there though.

Sotenga, I think, actually. I've known him for quite a few years from another forum I go to.

I don't remember exactly, but I use to visit Castlevania Dungeon regularly, and I guess that Kurt posted a link to here at one point or another. Since this site regularly updates, I kept visiting, and eventually joined the forums.

Court Records linked the Phoenix Wright article when I was starting to get into the series and I wound up here. Wanted to do a Xenosaga article. Shit, it's been 4 years? Really?
Still planning on writing it someday.

Can't really remember how I got to HG101 probably one of the articles matched a google search. But I do remember that at first was mainly reading the articles, and it took a while before I joined the forums.

Net-wise, Kurt and I go way back to the late '90s, thanks to the Castlevania Dungeon. He helped me start up the OPCFG (and kept it updated for me for the first few years); I contributed reviews to the original Classic Review Archive.
However, I don't think I knew Kurt had started HG101 up until sotenga told me about it over on T3M. I registered here and contributed the Splatterhouse article shortly thereafter (which I know still needs an update, sorry it's taking so long) and despite my frequent absences, I still manage to find my way back here.

I had been following the Castlevania Dungeon for years but it wasn't until Kurt started looking for information on his SMT article that I started to post here. Sadly the Megaten Haven isn't what it used to be and I feel bad about it. (Also fucking auto prune, why would someone turn that on, argh).
