This is exactly the kind of mech game I want. None of this dashing around and hacking each other apart with beam sabres, posturing and yelling long attack names - I want walking battle tanks, and Hawken seems to be providing that in spades. And the best thing is, just from seeing this video, they've apparently really nailed the whole "you're in a giant fuckin' robot" aspect.

I'm really surprised just by how visually stunning the game is. The fact it actually looks like a very competent multiplayer game has me even more excited. I'm going to be really bummed out if this one ends up only being on PC.

Holy shit this is indie? This is what effort looks like, ladies and gents.

At first, I assumed this was another elaborate April Fool's prank, because nobody would ever actually make a mech game that good. But a quick Google search seems to indicate this is the real deal.
Holy shit. This is shaping up to be the best mech game since Steel Battalion.

Somebody slap me I am in a state of euphoria so pure that I cannot connect to reality.

I'm going to be really bummed out if this one ends up only being on PC. The FAQ mentions they want to bring it to all systems, so there's a good chance this could see release on XBLA. It's hard to believe this was developed by an indie team in less than a year. It's very impressive, so hopefully it plays as good as it looks. The last mech game I enjoyed was Phantom Crash on the original XBOX, so it's about time we got another clunky mech game.

It looks nice for sure, but it feels more like "FPS with mechs" and less like "humongous machines of destruction", at least going by the movement. These are really agile mechs, a far cry from something like Steel Battalion, where working around your VT's movement limitations better than the opponent is key to victory.

They're more agile than Steel Battalion or MechWarrior, but it's not just normal FPS or Gundams. The way way the chassis shakes, the way the weapons fire... in one point in that trailer, you can clearly see the player try to place his mech into some kind of artillery mode.

I could get behind this. I always found the Mechwarrior games painfully slow (preferred Heavy Gear anyway), but the more agile ones, while more fun, struck me as somewhat unrealistic. I mean, when your Gundam-esque mechs get so humanoid that they're pulling off complex acrobatics, why not just use humans? But this looks like a good mix. I'm interested.

Yeah, I like that it's not too clunky but still manages to have the sim style. I like the way the setting looks too; add in destructable environments and this'd be perfect.
I like these new western mech games coming out of nowhere-- this and Double Fine's upcoming Trenched (even though that one's more Heavy Gear/Borderlands/TF2 styled, and in third person)

For the scale, the weapon mounts, the ability to do what you want with the design without being limited by normal human proportions, I could go on. Anyway, I'm impressed by the graphics, but can't say I'm all that excited by it. The mecha design really isn't my type, and it thus far appears to be multiplayer only.
