Dead Rising 2: Off the Record takes inspiration from Capcom's history of Director's Cut re-releases, according to developer Capcom Vancouver (formerly Blue Castle Games). Off the Record reimagines the Fortune City Incident of the original Dead Rising 2, this time casting the first Dead Rising's main character, war photographer Frank West, as the hero of the hour.

...Damn it, I only JUST bought Dead Rising 2 - is this a re-release or a separate downloadable product like Case Zero and Case West?

I only have Case Zero so far. I too would like to know what exactly this is? The description is unclear.

I hear it's a re-release. I almost bought Dead Rising 2 a week ago as well.

Amazon has it listed for $50 already, with a release date of Halloween. This is just fucking absurd.

This is the kind of thing I would think is pretty neat if they released it as free or affordable DLC. The fact they're re-packaging this as a new retail game with a nearly full retail price to match is just despicable. I'm seriously getting fed up with this kinda crap, and really getting sick of Capcom, in general. They used to be, hands down, my favorite game developer... I can't even say I like them, anymore.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm... I really and truly don't know what to make of this, particularly as I don't own DR2. All I can think of this (and I apologize in advance for bitterness): They think this is a better use of the budget than localizing AAI2, an already made game? Granted, one with a lot of text and one that's niche too...
Yeah, sorry, I'm just bitter. When I could call them my favorite big company a year or two ago and only to see them just now... well, it's really frustrating.

I heard it is a re-release. If so I think Capcom should take the oppertunity to compile everything into one release with this, alot like many of the GOTY editions of late. So that means it would need: Dead Rising 2, Case Zero, Case West and Off the Record itself in one package. That would be worth £30-40 in my head. Otherwise I'm going to ignore this. I only recently picked up the Limited edition of Dead Rising 2 on PS3 and I'm having alot of fun with it too.

I think this is Capcom's revenge for all the butthurt fans who complained about Frank not being in Dead Rising 2. That being said the game does seem to include extra stuff and should it include stuff like Case Zero and Case West, I'd probably consider buying it since I haven't bought Dead Rising 2. Just hope it comes out at a slightly lower price point. I mean isn't the original Dead Rising 2 already in like the $30 range?

Yeah, it's starting to turn that way for me too. I hope they start realizing that the Western gravy train Inafune romanticized about is actually a poop train, because it seems to be turning out that way for them. Though Dead Rising 2 looked awesome and I loved 3D Bionic Commando and Rearmed, everything they've shown since then has the stench of completely misunderstood concepts about what Westerners and their fans want. A lot of Japanese companies hire these Ben Judd-wannabes who completely lack his honesty and love for the work.

I'm choosing to think about as Pokemon: Frank Version or Pokemon: Chuck Version.
