Wow, that's quite a nice NES shelf. But can somebody explain to me why it always seems like European collectors are obsessed with their copies being complete with boxes, manuals and sometimes everything else as well, like ad leaflets, plastic wrappings, registry cards and such, whereas NA collectors horde heaps of loose cartridges and consoles? Of course there are also people in Europe that just stack loose SNES or NES copies, but those are people who just want to relive some of their childhood for the most part, while those that are really into collecting, spend time on sites akin to this one, play Falcom games and such would never want to have a big amount of loose games, or at least I don't know of anyone like that. It's not meant to say I don't like your collection or anything. It's just something I see being confirmed over and over again. Oh, I have plenty of boxed, complete NES games, I just didn't take a picture of any of them as I haven't packed them yet. Here are some of them, about half. The rest are scattered around at the moment.

Time and money would be my first two guesses. Complete NES games don't exactly fall off of trees in the US. I'm sure anyone could find whatever game they wanted if they looked, but they aren't nearly as plentiful or readily available as loose cartridges.

Still I have never seen a European collection of loose copies, as opposed to heaps of loose NA collections. Some collectors here even go as far as to call loose copies garbage and while I wouldn't go that far and still think that that NES shelf looks great to have, out of my 1000+ games only one is not a complete copy and that's Mega Man X2 as a complete copy would be too hard to find and too expensive for me at the moment. Obtaining complete copies is no easier in Europe than in NA, it's just that people seem to care more about that and I'm baffled as of why that is.

There are people like that here too. I'm just not one of them.

I have around 200 NES games and only 8 of them are boxed, similar scenario for SNES, N64, and Game Boy too.
While I'd love to have the boxes, I generally choose to buy more games than to spend more to get a box for one game. Maybe someday when I have more money I'll get some boxed copies of my most favorite games.
The only classic system that I have most of the boxes for is the Genesis. Not only are they really useful boxes, they don't usually cause the price of the game to go up very much at all since more people hung onto them.

Cant really say if this is true, but I do know one guy who's collecting NES games that come with hard-covered VHS rental cases. But at least in here, there's more of loose copies available compared to boxed ones. And my collection of 47 NES games is completely loose, apart from Snake's Revenge.

Most of my NES collection is loose- and yeah I know it is more about the game (especially with the quality of most of the booklets for NES releases heh) but there is something nice about having the original box n' all.

I don't really care about cartridges being loose at all. Although having the case and manual is really nice, especially with the genny games. CD games on the other hand... I have to have the case and often manual for them.

I have the three original NES Ninja Gaidens and Castlevanias with their boxes, as well as Snake's Revenge. A few others, too, though I don't remember which at the moment. They were all just a case of being in the right place at the right time. The local video store was shutting down and clearing out all of their stock.
I used to have the boxes and manuals for the classic SNES RPGs...FF2, FF3, Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire, Breath of Fire II, etc, but my mother lost them when she moved into a new house. Very heartbreaking.

To be honest - asides from cd/dvd based games the bulk of my fully boxed collection would go to my GB/GBC/GBA stuff and...although it was tough getting some of that stuff complete (Bionic Commando, Azure Dreams, Metal Gear Solid etc) I find I don't get a chance to get playing any of it now so...I'm not sure what I am saying really. Great games but no chance to play them seems to be the story of my life these days- I should probably just sell it off in bulk to someone who would give the stuff the love it deserves. Back to Terranigma though- although I have enjoyed the vast majority of what I played of it I don't think it would fall into the category of "I couldn't part with this" that some others hold so much like Earthbound I will probably let go of it once I finish it.

I buy the games in my collection with the intention of playing them. Even though I'll probably never get around to playing all of them I do want to. It's why I'm not too pushed about boxed copies of cartridges. Disk based games is different though since they are so easily scratched.

Any particular reason you got SH Origins on PS2 instead of PSP?
