Let's see... since Borders is going out of business, my boyfriend and I went over to see what books we could scrounge up for cheap. In the end, we got got the two book in Scott Lynch's Locke Lamore series, some book called Hyperion that someone recommended to me years ago, the second volume in the nifty "3 volumes in 1!" of Fullmetal Alchemist, and... an i can has cheesburger calendar. Next year needs to come already so I can laugh at cats everyday!

I'm not sure where else to post this since I didn't see a general recommendation thread, so I'll post this here. After seeing Weasel's recent post about getting a simple MP3 player, I am now looking for a simple "generic" MP3 player myself. I found an old Creative MP3 player in my sister's old car that is functional but only has 512 MB memory, so I want something a little heftier. Here's what I'm looking for in terms of features: - Easy to use interface. Buttons should be in logical locations and the GUI shouldn't be complicated or difficult to use.
- Compact size. Anything bigger than the iPod Nano is fine.
- Drag-n-drop file transferring. I absolutely do not want to put up with something like Apple's iTunes service.
- 4GB - 8GB of memory. Anything above 8GB seems excessive.
- Good battery life. I listen to music pretty much all the time, so I'd like more than 15 hours of music playback per charge if possible.
- Video playback would be nice, but isn't necessary.
- Internal speakers would be nice, but again, not necessary.

Aside from the games I bought, I also ordered some non-game stuff on Amazon:
Movies:
Cannibal!: The Musical (DVD) Scott Pilgrim vs The World (Blu Ray/DVD) Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (2006 DVD, which includes the theatrical edition in the bonus features)
Music:
Autopsy: Macabre Eternal (CD)

Also, I think the blu-ray editions just came out yesterday.

My bf and I went goodwill shopping and furniture shopping today, since we are in DESPARATE need of a new bookshelf. We didn't find a bookshelf, but we did a lot of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series... books two-eleven (sans seven) to be exact. Surprising thing is, all of them but book six are in really good condition... like 'bought new then gotten rid of before it was read' condition. Of course, we bought nine books and have nowhere to put them, with the overflowing bookshelf and all...

I have almost a dozen bookshelves and all are over flowing... should really find a place to donate some.

A ticket into a college program that I think I'll do really well at and enjoy. Computer Programmer Analyst. *does some soft shoe dancing* I get $1400 to buy a good, proper laptop for the program too, which I really need. I haven't had a decent computer, much less laptop for several years now. I miss laptops. (I know this isn't really a purchase, but I, uh, paid $95 for the application fee. That counts as a purchase, right??)

Sorry, I meant to say that the 2006 DVD re-release used the laserdisc copy of the data, so it has inferior technical quality over the 2004 version. So the 2004 version looks and sounds better, but the 2006 version has the original editing. This is why George Lucas sucks bantha poodoo, and yet he's still a billionaire.

I should pick up the THX laserdisc edition someday, I have a laserdisc player I got from my brother but haven't bothered to hook it up, heh.

Managed to get my grubby mits on this exact same vhs casette at a thrift store. And only for a buck. It's just the Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla movie that I already got on DVD (currently building my collection on DVDs) but I loved the box art so much I bought it anyway.

Along with the games I just bought, I also ordered Hot Fuzz on blu ray off of Amazon. It's quite possibly my favorite movie I've ever seen, so I have to have it in my collection.
