I just rebought a piece of my childhood, the Nintendo "The Power Game" 1991 calendar. I actually kept it for years past 1991, but eventually I asked myself, "Why am I keeping an old calendar around?" so in the trash it went. Stupid younger self. >:( But I just learned recently that it's still really cheap when it actually shows up for sale, so I just nabbed a copy. I don't care if the dates match up with the days or not, that thing is going on my wall. :) The art is admittedly kind of ugly and stupid looking, haha, but damned if I don't love it regardless. Here's what it looks like: www.videogameobsession.com/videogame/merchandise/posters_flyers_stickers_etc/Nintendo_Calendar_1991/index.htm

Oh wow. I didn't have that one, but I had the 1990 one. Man, that's nostalgic.

Yeah, I'm tempted to track down all three (they were only made from 1990-1992). 1990 is supposedly pretty cheap too (I only paid about $11 shipped on 1991), although I hear 1992 is rarer than the other two and can sometimes get moderately expensive (like $20-$40).

Did everyone else get them through Scholastic at school, too?

No clue, but I do remember getting books through those Scholastic catalogs at school, so it's a fair possibility.

I don't remember how I got it, but we did have Scholastic book fairs and catalogs where I was at school, as well, so it seems likely. I don't have it now. I imagine it disappeared after the year was no longer viable.

Over the past two weeks I picked up the New 52 collections of Justice League, Batman, and Animal Man. Much more convenient for me compared to buying single issues on a monthly basis. Batman and Animal Man are both very good (though the latter loses points with me for the amount of gore included); I'll probably end up buying Swamp Thing, as well, since Animal Man ties into it. Justice League, while good, is really the weakest for the three. I understand that the first "arc" was introducing the League and how they came together, but there wasn't much character development and it all felt too rushed. Good for action, not for story.
I also bought an instructional book on XNA 4.0. It's always been something I wanted to try out (I've tried making a few games using C++ and various graphics libraries with it, but XNA helps simplify a lot of stuff).

Jurassic Park Trilogy, Spiderman Trilogy, The Thing double movie set and Thor - all on Blu-ray for real cheap. I know the trilogys are patchy in places (Jurassic Park especially) but hey- it was super cheap as were the rest. I also bought a pop shield for one of my microphone and some more rechargable batteries as my wireless mouse eats them and hey- the Wii does too when I use it I also got some lovely new trousers (though that'd be open to interpretation!) as well as a haircut again.

A 10-port USB hub. I have just enough devices to make such a thing worth it -- there are only 3 remaining spots on the hub, two of which I'd probably use for my remaining controllers (1 X360, 1 Logitech Dual-Action). I've got a couple other ports on this laptop, though, which is nice.

Well, I picked up a few things recently; A Manic Miner tea mug (hurrah!) Back to the Future Trilogy on Bluray (only £5!) Tool - Undertow (can't believe I didn't already own this- thought I did...) Dream Disciples - In Amber A Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms (I already owned this but someone stole the disc from me when I was dj'ing - how low can you get?) Chameleons - Strange Times (RAGilmour mentioned it in the "What are you listening to?" thread and it was dirt cheap) Angels of Liberty - Complicated and finally I picked up Pitchforks book "The Zeroes". I'll be keeping a close eye on my post box

What's Going On Marvin Gaye AWESOME album. Could listen to it all day.
OK Computer Radiohead Hmm... dunno. There are a few unbelievable songs on here, but don't care for the rest. The production is really cool, but so much is happening that nothing left an impression on me (again, except for the three songs that I had already liked beforehand).

What's Going On is an essential purchase. I don't get to listen to it as much as I should but it really is something special- I love how much it all flows together. Ok Computer - for a time I preferred the Bends to it as I thought it was much more accesible. Nowadays I flit between the two unable to make my mind up over which I prefer. Ok Computer does have a few tracks that wash over me and I'm not as fond of (SHA, Let Down and The Tourist come to mind) but Climbing up the Walls is an amazingly sinister sounding song. Adore it.
