If not, then I would like to go ahead and lay claim to the rights of writing said article. Problem is, I don't really know if anything came after Equinox (although ICO seemed to capture the flavor of Solstice enough that my friends and I proclaimed it to be the spiritual ancestor back when it came out)
And I know of the any number of Spectrum games that influenced it, and I might take a look at them for a potential update (I'm in between computers right now, and the school thumbs their nose at people playing roms extensively.)

I.... kinda brought it up in the "Games that deserve to be on HG101" thread recently. Ed posted a reply about how there were sequels planned, and also ports, but I've never heard of this before.
Anyway, got AIM?

Head over Heels is a very, very similar Spectrum game to compare to it as is Knight Lore!

Head over Heels is a very, very similar Spectrum game to compare to it as is Knight Lore! And Batman, I believe.

Anyway, got AIM? -GoTaS Yeah, I'll add it to my sidewindow thingy. I'm visiting my family right now, so I'll only be on sporadically (once someone goes to bed and gets off a tv I'm going to hook up my NES and give it a quick run-through. And sorry for not looking there before hand, I just usually avoid massive threads if I wasn't involved from the beginning. No one likes it when a newbie overplays his hand, or something like that. EDIT: after reading your post about it on the other thread, I think you have more of a right to do this article. But if you need help writing or editing, or just want to include my notes, go right ahead and IM me.

Solstice? Eesh...and I thought I was a masochist. I think it'd be a really interesting article, though.

Oh! I just remembered that somebody - Rbudrick, I think! - made a map for Solstice. A nice map. A big map, and while I hosted it (for a while...I had to take it down for a while; I should probably put it back up) I had to fiddle around with it in Photoshop a bit to down the file size.
Anyhow, I discovered that Tim Follins did the music for Equinox. Hey, he's a great composer with his roots on the c64, programming the SID in an ingenious fashion for the rain/storm track of Ghouls 'n Ghosts (nice original tracks for that one, a good break from the arcade game). Mention that!
AND FINALLY: Oh my GOSH, I made a mistake. How could I confuse SOLSTICE with SHADOWGATE? No, no, NO, that won't do at all. I will print a retraction stating that I have not found any evidence of more than two games in the Solstice series. Sorry!

Head over Heels is a very, very similar Spectrum game to compare to it as is Knight Lore! Other great Spectrum games that inspired Solstice are Alien8 (sci-fi Knight Lore variant)and Spindizzy (Solstice crossed with Marble Madness, one of the hardest games I ever played, but very fun nonetheless).

Okay, I put Rbudrick's Solstice Map on my site again. Actually, I have some extra space so I should see if he still has the better quality version. home.comcast.net/~edoscuro/map_solstice.gifNice avatar, aggroger! @_@

I've seen some game about Thomas the Tank Engine listed as a Tim Follin credit more than once, but I've always been too afraid to actually check the validity of that claim.
