I know most gamers hate gamestop. It's a common thing to jump on the bandwagon, Especially here in arizona where a store selling games is a rare commodity. But fucking gamestop. It's not their workers, the workers ae pretty cool. It's their godamned prices.
So I go in there i'm like "What's for the ds out" I scan the shelf. 50$ for Super princess peach 48.99 for That kirby game I'm like "What the fuck!?" So, walmarts bargain bin (Wich was removed last week *tear*) Is actually a bargain bin. 40$ for a used copy of phantom brave? 50$ for used gamecube games over like, four years old? Prices averaging from 30-50 bucks for used Xbox games? Especially that they had ELDER SCROLLS OBLIVION for twenty bucks but they charge fourty for disgea and ninja willaims death by degrees? wtf explain this.

Do gamestops have regional pricing? Here on the east coast, I don't think I've seen any DS games going for more than $45.
Gamestop/EB have awful used game prices though. It always amuses me when I go to buy a new game and they offer to sell me a scratched up piece of junk with stickers and weird marks all over the case for $5 less.

That's funny, cause in this EB Games in Kristianstad, Sweden, most used games were sold for half the retail price.

uhh..here in NJ I think the VERY highest I've seen DS games go for is $40, and most of them start at $35 and lower. My problem with gamestop is that unless it's in the bargain bin, they're used selection isn't that much of a "bargain". btw, if Super Princess Peach is $50 at your local gamestop, you could always buy it online... www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=180107

Yeah their pricing is horrible and it really tends to show no understanding of the depreciation over time. A copy of PsyOps was sitting in my local EB for $85 AUS (so like 45-50 US) for about 3 years and only recently during a genuine sale (I got Trapt for $25 AUS) did the price come down.
And yes all the gamecube games even the old ones are overpriced here.

Geez you can get Psy Ops here for like $8.
Gamecube games rarely depreciate though. All part of some master scheme by Nintendo, who refuses to lower their new game prices, which in turn keeps the used prices up. Plus, a lot of their games are designed to be replayed, so the trade-ins aren't quite as high.
The few exceptions are Metroid Prime, Starfox Adventures and Eternal Darkness, which are all dirt cheap. Mario Tennis still retails for $50 here too.

Gamestop? Never heard of it. And I only know EBGames by its name. Not that it really matters, since there's other video game stores out there with rip-off prices and worth hating.

I haven't really seen too much gouging in the Gamestops here. Still wish there was more than one good independent game store near my house.

The worst in my area is Gamecrazy. They ask you to be apart of their VP service about 3 times when you're in there! It's not een that great of a deal. The worst thing about Gamestop is their slow moving pace on price changing. Fight Night Round 2 was still $39.99 well after Fight Night Round 3 came out. The same happened here with Burnout 3: Takedown after Burnout Revenge was released.

The only indpendent game store that use to be around here was Game Gallery and OMG there prices were over the top they were way more expensive then EB and Gamestop and didn't have anything special like imports. EB had bought them out be fore EB got bought out.

Damn...$8..that's like $15 here I'd buy it I want a copy (The PC game has a horrible control lag problem).
Ehh, worse game place I've ever seen is this one called Megablast in Sydney, basically their idea of a deal is to MATCH any legit non-sale price on a title and if (the other place) has it in stock. Essentially they offer no incentive whats so ever to purchase from them, if the other place has it in stock they won't even price match it. They claim it's so you buy Australian...whatever it's disgusting in my opinion espcially since I talked to the clerk for about 5 minutes and he was one of the most arrogant most signularly rude salesmen I've ever meet in my entire life.

I don't even have a real hate story for my GameStop; they haven't done anything too terribly outrageous in terms of messing up games or whatnot.
But they did recently re-organize everything and replaced the welcoming tan carpet with a blue one, and made the whole right wall a counter (I guess to prevent stealing). Looks nothing like the shop I had known since 1996 (if not earlier) when it was Babbage's.
I recently found a computer game from 1989 or so that had been sold there, and I wonder if any of the older ones I've gotten (like a box + manual for the 1980 classic The Temple of Apshai, had a copied disk) were from there...
Edit: Yeah, I hate the prices. The workers are fine. HATE the goddamned prices. I don't mind the original Game Boy prices - they can't sell them for less than eBay pricing - but jesus, Metroid Prime 2 is probably STILL around $40. I bought the original MP a year or more after release and it was full price.
