It's a good thing I posted here first, I knew there'd be a few things I missed. That actually puts the Wild Arms intro up into the top 10.
Some of the Youtube links will go up and down unfortunately...I'm still gotta round up MP3s for most of these but I'm not sure when that'll be.
Anyway, I'd like to start soliticiting comments for various tracks you've voted on, limited to the top 100. Keep it between two and four sentences (roughly) and write it in the third person, and it'll be featured in the article.

Somehow simultaneously surprised and not at all surprised that Chrono Cross was #1. I kind of wish you had listed them in ascending order though, Kurt. I wanted to be surprised. :U It does seem odd to see so much love for that particular game. Unless I missed out on a whole movement or something, it was my understanding that most people didn't really care for it.

I'll happily write one for Wicked Child, seeing as that placed the highest of my Top 5. If no one else wants to write for Super Mario 64's Dire Dire Docks (which would have been #6), I'd like to do that one, too.

It's generally acknowledged as having one of the best soundtracks ever, even if the game itself is mediocre. It really is worth playing just for the music.

I think you ended up with a pretty good top 10 actually, aside from the inclusion of the execrable Snake Eater - how the heck did that make it up there? Clash on the Big Bridge is way overrated too, but at least it's a decent song, and the other 8 are all good to great.

Snake Eater is certainly corny, but it's a perfect fit for the overall mood and setting of MGS3.

I'm amazed how quickly this was compiled. Excellent job. I was hoping for more Western games too. There were a lot of singular votes, but not too many people here are familiar with C64/Amiga/90s PC music. I did a quick calculation and about 10% of the list is from Western games. Maybe a poll like this should be order strictly for American and European VGM? ΒΈ That could be awesome but with the pool of voters being almost the same, I wonder if modern gaming and older console games (like DKC) would still overpower the other stuff anyway. This list has a ton of great music although (lack of Western content aside) it still has the same complaint you'll find from me from pretty much every collectively made list: Nintendo console picks vastly outnumber Sega console ones (although to be fair it`s to a lesser extent than most lists; I`m pleased to see a Wonder Boy game make it). I don't think this stems from classic Sega being inferior for music. They just haven't had the same quantity of system owners, even on a more hardcore leaning site like this. Also, they have a huge number of different franchises for a single company. The downside to that is that their votes gets spread more thinly. On that note, I'm surprised and disappointed that not a single 2d Shinobi game made it on to such a Japan-centric list. 2d Ninja Gaiden, on the other hand, is on there seven times. Anyway, I'm happy my 3-pointers made the list. At least I can say I helped the TGCD and C64 a tiny bit.

Whoa, that's a long list! Glad to see that some of the ones I voted for made it in the 1000 (and even in the addition 100).
There are actually three (subtly different) versions of this song to go with three different characters: "Love Me" for Arthur Schmitt, "Love So" for Tinker and Linker, and "I Love You" for Meirin (I think). The one I voted for was actually "Love Me" and not "Love So."

It certainly doesn't help that most ways to play Mega Drive games (most Mega Drive/Genesis 2 variants and all emulators & compilations) sound like ass.

I think it would be just as interesting to get comments on some of the more obscure stuff that is further down the list. Most people (myself included) won't be able to listen to everything; getting comments from people who feel strongly about some of the stuff lower down might help highlight songs that would otherwise go unnoticed.

By the way, are all 3-pointers supposed to be in the extended list, or just the ones that are made up of 3 individual posts? I'm asking because one of my top-5 songs only I voted for is listed (in the top-1000 even, Realms of Arkania: Star Trail, Kvirasim) but the other isn't (Terranigma, Return to Mother Earth). For 657. Turrican III, Factory Action (Level 1-1) - www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiNQhBjxREkI suggest using the Amiga original (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zz1gP6Dc3Ko), because it is not only the original, but also much superior.
