Looking at the results of the Top 1000 VGM poll, there was a distinct lack of Western composed music, comprising only about 10% of the total songs. This doesn't mean that Western VGM is inferior, but just that it's not as widely known amongst VGM fans. This poll will try to fix that! The goal is to highlight some of the music that got passed over last time around - C64 stuff, Amiga music, adventure games, RTSs and RPGs, tany number of awesome PC CD-ROM redbook tracks, recent games (indie or big-time) and so forth.

The tallying works the same way as before, mostly. You can pick up to 50 songs (as opposed to 100, since the pool of available songs is smaller). You can pick less (just one, even), but no more. Most songs will get 1 point. You can pick a Top 5 from your list - these songs will get 2 points each. You can elect not to choose a Top 5 if you can't narrow them down, but in turn none of the songs elected will get extra points.

You must format your voting like this:

GAME NAME, TRACK NAME, YOUTUBE LINK (optional), COMPOSER (optional)

That's the game name, with a comma and a space, followed by the track name, then a comma and a space, then a Youtube link if you want to provide a sample, then a comma, then the composer name if you want. (You do not need to put a comma after the track name if you're not posting a Youtube link.) Each entry goes on its own line. YOU MUST FOLLOW THIS EXACT FORMAT OR YOU VOTE WILL BE DISCOUNTED. The reason why is that it makes it easier to tally votes when copied into Excel, and I don't want to have to reformat people's votes.

Various rules:
-The composer must be North/South American, European, Australian or New Zealandian. If they are an American composer doing work for a Japanese game (i.e. Sonic CD NA) then that is fine. Arrangements for European computers, even if the original work was Japanese, is also acceptable. (i.e. for the Commodore 64 versions, Chris Huelsbeck for R-Type, Tim Follin for Bionic Commando, etc.)
-Try to find the proper track name. www.vgmdb.net is a great resource. If you can't find it, just put where it's used (i.e. Battle Theme, Level 1, Boss Theme, etc.) and we'll try to figure it out
-No licensed music. If you try to be clever and put down Rock Band you will be disqualified. If you vote for something from a rhythm game, it must be an original song, not an arrangement of something else. There will be exceptions made for games where the licensed music is largely identified with a game (i.e. Rez). These will be decided on a case by case basis.
-Songs must appear in the games themselves. No arrange soundtrack versions can be voted on, unless they're in the games themselves.
-Do not specify a specific platform for games that have multiple versions, unless the versions have totally different soundtracks.
-The goal is to get a wide variety of songs, so please limit yourself to three songs per game, at maximum.
-Please post Youtube links if you can. That way you can expose other votes to some songs you like - maybe they'll check out the game it's from and vote for it too.
-All entries are due by Friday, December 9th, at 11:59 PM EST. You can change or edit your entries up until then, but after that they will not be counted.
-Loader music is A-OK!
