Soul Calibur 3 and Last Blade. I consider all 3 top tier fighting games, and 2 for one is a better deal.

By "new Guilty Gear", so you mean Slash? Because there's very little new to it, other than Aba, Justice Sol and some balance changes.
The Last Blade collection is a good choice but just be aware that they're more like 95% arcade accurate instead of perfect.
I'm not a big Soul Calibur fan but I never found 3 that much better than 2, other than for the amusing random costumes. The single player AI is pretty annoying, I can tell you that much.

Man with choices like that forget Soul Calibur III. Last Blade collection all the way (especially with the superior Soul Calibur II being ten dollars now at some places).

The only thing better about Soul Calibur II would be the bonus character's and Talim's controll scheme. Other than that, the game was somewhat broken.
In any case, it really depends on what you prefer; 2D or 3D.

I pretty much hate the Soul Calibur series, so take this suggestion with a grain of salt. Last Blade 2-in-1 contains two of the best fighting games made by quite possibly the best fighting game company ever! Besides Samurai Shodown it is the best weapons fighter in my opinion. The emulation isn't perfect (and the sound effects are awful), but it's still great to have these games on the PS2. Guilty Gear XX Slash is not a huge change over #Reload, if you have that. If you play GG competitively, you of course should be playing on the latest rev. However, they took the story mode out of Slash if you enjoyed that. (The Japanese version of #Reload also did not have the story mode). As mentioned above, you get one completely new character (ABA), one alternate character (Order Sol), and tweaks to moves, etc. The backgrounds are also recolored to look worse, imo... much more bland. However, I would recommend that over SCIII, which has a memory card bug that I believe Namco was refusing to fix. In the Chronicle mode (I think that was what it was called... the RTS mode you unlock all the create-a-character stuff in), if you aren't careful and don't regularly back up your save it will corrupt your Chronicle data if you delete OTHER game saves on the same memory card. This was enough for me to sell the game since there is no reason for console games to have such bugs in them. Other than that, the new characters weren't that great imo, and the graphics took a slight step down from SCII. Of course, please keep in mind that the only game I like in this series is the original Soul Blade.

I intend to purchase Soul Calibur three over any of the games you've recommended. The last blade isn't anything i cant get on an emulator so there isn't any point in buying it.

Er... then why did you ask if you should buy Last Blade?

I was contemplating it. But then i realized that i really have no one to play it with, whereas soul calibur has a good single player experience.

I've heard some bad things about Guilty Gear Dust Strikers, dunno about Judgment, although it seems to have a built-in Guilty Gear #Reload from what I hear (don't quote me on that one, though), which should be rather nice, considering the lack of fighting games on the GBA.
