AceCombat or Riddle of Murasame Castle. I've no love for those WTFAQ laden adventure games so wouldn't be partaking in KQV. (mind you- I could finish off Deadly Premonition and start Skyrim if you guys do choose it so I am easy either way!) It's seriously bullshit too, when it comes to the trial and error stuff. While I'd say solutions like the "hey, throw a bridle on the snake in KQII and it turns into pegasus" were more WTF, at least that one had multiple solutions. In KQV there are tons of dead ends, and some of them don't even involve things you can see. At least they had the sense of humor in KQVI to mock at least one of those puzzles (in the pawn shop, amongst the various items that would have been useful in previous games). Speaking of which, I'd totally be up for playing through KQVI, since I never tried out all of the different paths - that game was pretty decent overall when it came to offering you a different way out if you fucked up and missed something.

In all honesty I'd vote for KQV but I've beaten it before and know all the solutions to the "puzzles", so it'd be tantamount to cheating. Is there a translation patch for Murasame Castle? There is, actually! IIRC, you don't even need a patch to understand how to play the game, but one is out there nonetheless. I said on the podcast that I'd cast my vote towards Murasame Castle, and... y'know, I'm going to stick by that, even though it seems to be the underdog of this particular round. I have a feeling that if it won, the podcast would only be about half as long as usual since, as Kurt said, it's a relatively simple action game. It's like speed Zelda set in medieval Japan, more or less. STill, we could do FAR worse for an FDS game, and I kinda want to see one of those on the podcast sometime. May not be this round, but ah well.

Sorry for the double post, but here's the tally so far:
Ace Combat: 8 Riddle of Murasame Castle: 4 King's Quest V: 8
I should note that member Turnip casts her vote for Ace Combat, but as her Internet is not currently working, she's asked to register it via IRC.
Ace Combat and King's Quest V are currently tied, but you have until Friday night to continue voting. I'm thinking of closing the polls around 10:00 EST.
Also, a caveat: Please make sure you 100% know what game you're voting for up front before posting. Ambiguous posts will not be counted until further clarification is given.

Just to clarify, my vote's for Ace Combat. Not sure it could be gleaned from that rant, lol.

Stick me down for Ace Combat - though I feel sorry for Riddle of Murasame Castle I have to admit I wouldn't mind trying some dodgey PS1 arcadey air based combat!

I'd like to submit my vote for Ace Combat.
New to the forum, but I really enjoyed all of the GC9X podcasts thus far and would like to partake in this month's collective playthrough. Look forward to playing!

Welcome indeed! Tim's vote brings Ace Combat up to seven votes, currently tied with King's Quest V. You all have until 10:00 p.m. EST today to vote, meaning less than twelve hours are currently left for the polls. If you haven't voted yet but want to do so, now's the time!

A vote for King's Quest V is a vote for Cedric the Owl.
Vote Cedric!
EDIT: Actually, I probably won't be playing, so you might not want to count my vote.

Yeah, welcome to the forums as long as you're not the "evil one" with that name.
BTW, question - I just remembered, the first AC game on Playstation was Air Combat - Ace Combat 2 was the next Playstation game in the series (I think Ace Combat 1 was arcade only). Which game is this for, Sotenga?

Pretty sure they mean the first game PS1 game a.k.a Air Combat. Their randomizer must have picked the game through its Japanese name which was Ace Combat. The arcade game was also called Air Combat (As was the arcade sequel Air Combat 22). They didn't become Ace Combat in the west until the second PS1 game.

Jojo: I'll have to consult Xerxes, but I believe Air Combat will be the game we're looking at in this case. I didn't know the PS1 port was titled differently, but then I don't know jack about the series... yet.
Orbus: You don't have to participate to vote, but by that same token, you're not obligated to vote either! Still, I'll put your vote towards KQ5, which currently leaves the score thusly:
AC: 8 RoMC: 4 KQ5: 8
Hmm... if there aren't any more votes to the end of tonight (10:00 p.m.), we may have to hold a tiebreaker. Honestly, I'm not 100% sure how that'll be handled, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Yeah, it's Air Combat for PSX. I should have caught that, but didn't. I seriously doubt there will be a tie. But if so, we'll just go with whichever of the two gets the next vote.
