Okay - here's the deal, I've got a Sega Game Gear here, it almost functions perfectly except the screen is FUBAR. If you can replace the screen on it, you'll pretty much have a fully functional Sega Game Gear. I'm throwing in the copy of Ecco the Dolphin that was still inserted when I bought it; all stickers have been removed cleanly from the machine and the strap is still attached. I don't, however, have the power adapter, and you'll obviously need to supply your own batteries.
Make me an offer.

What's wrong with the screen exactly? I ask because it's actually quite likely that the screen is mostly fine, but the capacitors of the GG are dying or dead. They apparently weren't very good-quality and basically any unit that hasn't had them replaced is going to show problems from it at this point. This is what it looks like - actually you might be right, the screen doesn't seem to be dead, but only about 5 rows of pixels are actually functioning, the rest just remain black. As far as I can tell, the system actually does function properly otherwise, though, as the Ecco attract mode seems to work (and the sounds work too, though the speakers seem pretty weak at max volume).

If the speakers are weak too, then I'd be very surprised if the problem wasn't the caps.

Well, honestly, it's beyond my expertise to get this thing fixed, and I'd honestly rather sell it to someone that can repair it and give it a good home.

Indeed -- mainly I'm pointing it out just so whoever buys it doesn't invest in a new unit instead of bad caps.
Won't deny to being tempted to get it myself, but I don't think I could properly do the de/soldering required to get it working without damaging components.
