All they need to do is make Shenmue into a pure brawler and add some 2 player support, destructable evironments, and weapons and you will have the best 3D brawler ever made.

As a big fan of brawlers and also the movie, The Warriors, The Warriors (the game) was a major disappointment. Rockstar cannot design a game to save their lives. Like all their games, the graphics are muddy and blurry and dark/drab. The control... well, let's just leave it at: the hand-to-hand fighting controls better than it does in the Grand Theft Auto series.
Yakuza was also a huge disappointment. It seemed so limited. It's possible Yakuza gets awesome several hours in, but I refuse at my age to devote any time to games that are boring for hours before they become interesting!!!!! It also doesn't have the "endearing street gangs" feel that the Kunio games have.
Kenka Bancho is the closest we have to a 3d River City Ransom. You run around in hooligan school clothes, harass old people, and regain stamina by doing the classic "squat and look badass/disinterested." You earn money by assaulting people- and yes, the coins fall on the street and you must pick them up. You can learn new moves and take on part time jobs. You can change your haircut but I suggest you keep it at the default, which is a pompadour. You also have epic staredowns with rival thugs complete with electricity flowing from eye to eye. The tutorial involves you and your dad kicking each other's asses. So this is the best 3d brawler ever made. Second best is Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks- this is more a measure of the awfulness of 3d brawlers than a measure of the quality of MKSM.
P.S. Discounting Kenka Bancho, Double Dragon Advance is the best 3d brawler ever. Even though it's 2d! That's just how good it is.

I've always wanted to play Kenka, but there's the language barrier of course.
Maybe Gaijinworks will take a hack at it. I wanna stare down some old people!

Kudos to Double Dragon Advance, best game of the series. I still need to get a second copy of that so I can link my SP and GC Gameboy Player for 2 player co-op.
