I love the way in which review score numbers are so inflated. I DIDN'T LIKE THIS GAME 6/10 GameFan used numbers like letter grades, so a 60/100 would be a D-.

Man, I love the goofy art in that book. Especially the plesiosaur in the Adventure Island II section.
Thanks for posting that Guilty Gear X ad. I remembered that strange tagline, but I couldn't figure out where I saw it.

I dunno if it's unusual for 1992 but by the mid-90s and later it's really not all that different from what an average game ad would look like.

For all of the faults of the magazine, I still think Gamers Republic was a damn stylish rag. I don't know if that's because I was easily impressed by flashy printing, or that it was honestly better than the usual game magazine that still thought it was in a broadsheet.

This thread reminds me of how much I miss Nintendo Power. They felt like more than just magazines, they felt like collectible items, nice mementos, relics of a simpler, more fun time...
