I bought this game a few days ago. At first it frustrated the hell out of me, but I eventually got used to it and started having lots of fun. It's got just the right touch of non-linear elements to make it stand out. Anyone else played it yet?

Munch, I would so want to have it now... but I lack the appropriate hardware to activate it. *sigh* This is doubtlessly my numbero one-o reason to snag a PSP sometime in the near future. That, and the emulating of games... which I still need to learn how to do.

The ONLY reason I want a PSP is for all the games Capcom has released. Mega Man Powered Up, Maverick Hunter X, and Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins are must haves. Plus the Super Star Soldier remake and Gradius collection are pretty sweet, too.
...Still not worth $200, though.

Ghosts n' Goblins is sweet! The only way to survive that game is with the daggars because of their rapid fire. Soooooooo hard.

Profile? Meh. I have the original. No need to buy a new version just for a few FMVs.
Lumines? Sure. Forgot about that one. Don't know much about Field Commander, though.

Don't get a PSP for emulation, get a GP32x or whatever they're called now, no crazy crap when it comes to getting something working.

Lumines? Sure. Forgot about that one. Don't know much about Field Commander, though. Lumines is coming to the 360 and PS2 though. Still a great game. AFAIK Field Commander is just like Advance Wars except without the cartoony graphics. I actually like the light hearted feel of the game, and since I have all of those, I'm not exactly into plunking down $40 for what is apparently the same game but maybe 3D. I would get Ultimate G&G were it not $40.

The other difference is that Field Commander suuuuuuuuuuucks.
I gave it a solid chance. It apes Advance Wars in every way except for the artstyle but lacks the useful variety of units as well as more intuitive control provided by the DS stylus. That in and of itself isn't a problem but the interface is so overly clunky and the load times are so lengthy that the game is almost unplayable. That is to say, it's very easy to know exactly what does what on every menu, but even then, it takes forever to go through everything and accomplish something as simple as having one unit attack another. It's not any more intuitive than MUCH older games of this kind like Metal Marines, the oldest Dai Senryaku, etc.
Plus for a portable game, I know I bitch about the loading times on the PSP but this one is up there with Midnight Club 3. I'm not exaggerating when I say it takes well over five minutes to get from turning the PSP on to actually playing the game.
