Hikaru Kitsune - the main song in Space Funeral is White Waking by Les Rallizes Dénudés, one of the more listenable noise rock bands.

I had a dream last night of illustrating Columbus on a boat facing backwards at the back end of the boat pointing a la Phoenix Wright at nothing for this project. If you want, Kurt, I can make that a reality. That would be fantastic. I've been trying to get in contact with people to do some promotional artwork, so I could commission something if you'd like. I had an idea that the "box" artwork would look like a 90s game cover, something that's trying to sell the game to hyperactive 12 year old boys. So I wanted a picture of Columbus on a ship fighting a dragon and being all badass - which is totally misrepresentative of the product, of course, but it'd be pretty funny. Or maybe do a Japanese-type box art with all of the characters sorta anime-like and have Columbus in the center of the female characters, like a harem, which of course is not remotely what the game is about. I have been toying with the idea of just releasing the MS Paint version into the wild to build some word of mouth and get some feedback. I think advertising an adventure game is very difficult, because you really need to be able to play it to get a feel for the sense of humor. The whole first act (roughly a third of the planned game) is completed and playable, though there's probably some bugs left too. I've already identified a few minor things that are going to be cut or need some changing, but otherwise it's pretty representative of what I'd like it to be. My major sticking point now is music though - right now it just uses tunes ripped from a few European NES games, and I don't want people to think that that's the music the game will be using, since it will need an original soundtrack at some point. But I also feel playing the game in silence is kinda boring. Anyway, I'd like a chiptune soundtrack for this game. It rather fits, somehow, and I've never heard of an adventure game using one. All of the music I have now if from Alberto Gonzalez games, who has a really light and peppy style that works in the context of the game. I know he's still around, but it's unlikely I'd be able to afford someone like him. The Bundle in a Box is out as of last Friday, so if you purchase it please vote for this game. It looks like its being squarely beaten out by a Minecraft clone though.

I like your ideas, Kurt. I think I can combine those with mine and do something really nifty if I can get the time. I'll see what I can do this week...if I can find a break from all the school reading I'm doing. XD

You can stick to your concept for the moment. I'd been in touch with another artist about some of those things I was talking about, though since he's been busy at the moment I'm not sure where he's at on it.

How do I vote for this for you. I haven't played a good funny adventure game since Sam and Max, to be fair I never played MI 3 or Grim Fandango..., but I would love to see this succeed. The screenshots were pretty funny so you and I might see eye to eye on humor.

I'm with klaid - where do you vote? I looked on the blog, and people are retards (semantics about the word "Indies" and of course someone bringing up the "genocide" of Native Americans). I always liked the old painted Atari covers from the 1970s, which usually had nothing to do with the game at all. I just wish I could paint something that didn't look like the cover to the Eragon books, I would totally offer to help.

Kurt - I've gotten some more ideas on the way to school. I'll work up some concepts and share them with you when I get the chance. I like the ones you had, though. It supplements mine quite nicely. Tell you what. I'll draw each piece separately and you can tell me what you like and don't like.

This game looks like a lot of fun. I loved Que Paso Perro, so I'll probably love this too. I always found point and click easier than text adventures, so this should be right up my alley. I feel like there was an old NES game that also let you play as Christopher Columbus, but it wasn't a comedy. Either way, I'm still very excited for this game.

I'll get around to playing this at some point. The look of it makes me pine for Life of D Duck 3.

Made a bit of progress on the Columbus concept. I've given him a Mega Buster that will shoot out charting compasses. EDIT - Here, the results of my concept:

Nice, but could use a random menacing shadowy demon head in the background just for red herring purposes.

I thought of that, but went with the Spanish flag instead. I'll consider it for a final draft if Kurt likes it.

Already responded separately, but yeah, that picture is pretty great Wildcat. This game looks like a lot of fun. I loved Que Paso Perro, so I'll probably love this too. I feel like there was an old NES game that also let you play as Christopher Columbus, but it wasn't a comedy. Either way, I'm still very excited for this game. There was a Columbus RPG for the Famicom that was fan-translated, so that may have been it. I picked it up cheap at a convention for the novelty, but haven't actually played it.

So I guess this has died a quiet death over the course of the last few months?
