Though Derboo and I worked on these articles independently, Teddy Boy is a kinda-sorta follow-up to Flicky, being that it was designed by the same person and has the same warp-around stages. The Japanese version was a tie-in with a pop song of the era, though this was removed from other releases.

I've only played the U.S. SMS version, but it looks like the arcade version has some interesting stuff going on that wasn't included. It looks like there's a shop and some bonus rounds? I should try to run this the next time I get MAME to work.
Was there a U.S. arcade version

Arcade version was JP only.
There's no shop but the bonus rounds are completely different. The stages themselves are also changed but most are similar to the SMS version.

Arcade version was JP only. I played the arcade version in Norway around 88-89. It was probably a bootleg like several other games from the same Swedish distributer.
