I mostly just find Shield Hero to be a very mediocre and generic series aside from the rape allegation part, or the punishment the Princess ends up getting, it's all so dreadfully boring and i just didn't think it was that well written, nor really funny, it is cool to see someone using a shield though, but aside from that, it's nothing other Isekai series haven't done.
But it's mostly the fact that i just didn't find the series that interesting or exciting, sometimes simple stuff makes me happy, Karate Baka Isekai has only had three chapters of the manga and i love it just because the premise is "Obsessed idiotic karateka dies trying to punch a truck, Goddess offers him cheats for his next life, he refuses and then goes on a fantasy world punching minotaurs or facing skilled knights with pure karate skills he learned on Earth and nothing more".
Though from what i understand, the Shield Hero manga, and the light novel in particular, gets really dumb and so awful that people wonder why it's still going on, don't know the details, but it just seems a lot of hate comes from the original having a huge drop in quality, something about the evil Princess coming back vastly more important and powerful than ever to a point of being Lovecraftian in power out of nowhere from what i understand.

Also, regarding Ion Fury, save often, enemies can and will hurt you, and the game throws you at tough spots, sometimes literally, the second level starts with you being thrown into water, and when you get out, you have an area with many enemies and where they have a lot of spots to shoot at you or sneak up behind you, and when you consider that some of them can one shot you...yeah, just save, or at least make sure you enter the second level with a high number of HP and ammo.
The game does not fuck around, it wants you dead and it will kill you, though, i have to admit, i was never a fan of any level that starts you off next to a large number of enemies, much less levels where they can shoot you from various angles, so that second level was one i instantly didn't like as much as the first one, and man, having moments like dealing with those creepy spider head things with the revolver and then dying because someone launched a grenade at me even though i was sure i had looked around and didn't see anyone still alive just further reinforces my idea, this is the kind of game where you want to save often.

Why were people so mad about Rising of the Shield Hero? I saw a lot of outage over it online but wasn't clear exactly what it was over, people really need to leave their modern hypersensitivity at the door when it comes to anime because it's the last thing that will ever walk on eggshells for the overly offended. It's a small but vocal subset of journalists that outrage over Rising of the Shield Hero. Mainly for the plot points around rape accusations and slavery, despite the fact that the whole story is based on a light novel, written by a woman. It just depends on what perspective you choose to focus on I suppose. I'm of the opinion that it should resolve people to find the truth based on evidence, and it does show a very real side to how damaging defamation and false accusations can be to one's reputation. If Shawshank Redemption can be highly regarded for being a story about a man being wrongly sentenced to prison based on bogus charges, why would it be any different here? And to think that an anime/light novel isekai where slavery is part of world structure, as if it would condone and lead to slavery anymore than a video game like Pacman or Katamari Damacy would lead to an epidemic of pellet and ghost swallowing or rolling up their home furniture and pets into a ball? Laughable at best. As it stands today, Rising of the Shield Hero and even Goblin Slayer are the top 2 rated manga on Manga Here. Even above Black Clover. I would argue that Black Clover is better paced. The action is non-stop on Black Clover.

Started FFXII: The Zodiac Age and just reached Bhujerba. Damn, the Garamsythe Waterway -> Nalbina Dungeon -> Barheim Passage is a pretty lenghty trio of locations to tackle so early in any JRPG. And you can’t leave either, as the save system warns you a million times. Then again it makes it even sweeter when you finally see the blue sky again. (EDIT: Forgot the Royal Palace section is there too! So FOUR locations in a row)
There’s something about this game that still impresses me after all these years. It’s just so.... well made, I guess? The fast forward option in the remaster is a GOD SEND cause of how vast most areas are. And if I’m not mistaken the soundtrack sounds like it’s remastered too? It’s absolutely fantastic most of the time.
Now onto the Lhusu Mines. Don’t really remember what was down there, it’s been over 10 years...

I've just come across a webpage called Retromags that's in the job of preserving old and expired magazines (mostly video games but has some other ones available like anime magazine Protoculture Addicts) and strategy guides for viewing. But I'm under the impression that one needs to sign up to view the magazines. Does anybody use this site and how much does the site currently preserves with its mags? www.retromags.com/Update: Never mind. I seem to figure out things with the site. Very good place. Has EGM2 an Expert Gamer strategy guides which I regret throwing away years ago. Wow, this is really cool! I'm ready to dive in to the Nintendo Fun Club!

Got some good news today. Got my package from an Ebay seller of three N64 games today. The first two are Dark Rift and Wave Race 64 which I really don't care for except for trade-ins somewhere. The real item I was interested in was Space Station Silicon Valley. I may have mention once that I got the game originally at a flea market for between 2 or 5 dollars but ended up trading it in at a store after being disenchanted with it. But later I ended up feeling I didn't give it an fair enough chance. So I got it again for a good deal. All three games were almost $40 with S&H. I know I too a risk with this, the game goes for high money. But luckily the game works just fine. The seller must not really care much for the high value of SSSV.

I would also like to point out that one of their members, JimmyD, is scanning issues of Gamest and Neo Geo Freak. Beat Solid Snake: Metal Gear 2. Great little game and a massive improvement on the original. Still holds up and the soundtrack is gorgeous. Bit annoying that the manual isn't scanned in and included with the HD collection as it's required to beat the game, just like the original.

Yes, Metal Gear 2 is so good <3 It deserves way more attention than it tends to get. It's a shame it went so long without an official English-language release.

MG2 plays and looks great. Its such a well put together game that I wish it and the MSX Metal Gear were made available here on their own. IT would get much more attention if it wasn't a bonus feature. And its so important to the MGS story that it was really confusing when MGS was released and no one knew about it.

Pity the US release lost the original character avatars. I always get a kick out of seeing Mel Gibson Snake and Sean Connery Big Boss.

I originally played the fan translation of MG2 way back when, and was obviously struck by how it's basically MGS in 2D. I wonder what MGS's reception would have been like if MG2 had been released outside of Japan since the gameplay is so similar.

After watching the Pac-Man spin off article on the website and after Reading about Pac-Mania once more, it really makes me wish that Matthias Domin could finish work on his Pac-Mania clone for the Atari Jaguar...

The game, up until shortly after Vayne rises to power, is so great! Every time I play XII I learn to respect the good parts more and mind the less stellar ones a bit less. The world is super immersive, the game looks great, and sounds great, I do like the Gambit System, and the staging of the cutscenes is impecable. It's just too bad the last third seems quickly stitched togehter. You should btw be able to decide on what soundtrack to use in the options menu in case you want to try them out. "Regular" is the PS2 original, "Re-Orchestrated" the (default) new one, and there's also OST which I think uses the renditions from a commercial released soundtrack (but might be DLC).
