"Cherry Hunter" sounds like the name of some creepy porn site. The design is mostly ok, but the whole electric guitar thing is so corny and out-of-place in a Streets of Rage game that I'll refrain from typing exactly how corny it is so as not to start a pointless argument.

I originally played the fan translation of MG2 way back when, and was obviously struck by how it's basically MGS in 2D. I wonder what MGS's reception would have been like if MG2 had been released outside of Japan since the gameplay is so similar. That's what really blew me away about MG2 is how similar to MGS is, the story plays out in a similar way, you do similar things, there's tons of analogues, even down to having to use hot and cold to change a key. And it's a fantastic game with a phenomenal soundtrack, so good you can see why Kojima basically redid it with MGS since so few people played it, but then that gave him to get meta with the similarities with MGS2. So yeah, if it had gotten a US release it would have changed things a lot, either MGS would have been more different or MGS2 wouldn't have been meta or if it was meta chances are US gamers would have understood it a little better, since there would be parallels with 2 games instead of just 1. Either way it's always weird to go back and play an older game that heavily resembles a later, more popular one, the same thing happened again with System Shock 2 and Bioshock.

She's obviously trying really hard to be Nevan from Devil May Cry 3, with the electric guitar and all.

I kind of get what they're going for, though.

This keeps coming up and I don't get it. The young child on rollerskates is OK, the old man cyborg, you can work with that, even the kangaroo wasn't an issue, but this is going too far? Streets of Rage was always corny. That's part of what makes it good.

Lovely! And I just bought the PS3 version. Wonder if they'll fix the bugs in the Switch port.

And Skate was genuinely cool by early '90s standards. None of it was on some corny-on-purpose, so-bad-it's-good campy shit. Having somebody who hurts enemies with the power of rock'n'roll guitar shredding is not just (unbelievably) corny and stupid, it's incredibly stale, cliched, boring, played out. It's something baby boomers would have thought was cool. Rock hasn't been the rebellious youth music it once was for decades, it's time to let that shit go. This one guy in Fighting Vipers had a guitar, but at least he just hit people with it. But I already don't care about this goofy fangame masquerading as a sequel, so it doesn't matter to me either way.

The Yakuza Remasters have finally been announced for the West with Yakuza 3 being available for download RIGHT NOW. 4 is in October, 5 is early next year, and by then there will also be a physical released bundle of all three games. Pretty cool.

Pretty cool. That's a lot of Yakuza. Hopefully it means the entire series comes to PC and then they give the Kiwami treatment to the PSP game and feudal japan game we missed out on.

Pretty cool. Quite serendipitous as I just recently played Yakuza 0, but good gravy, no clue when I'd find the time to play all of them, I'd like to play them all but that's probably going to take me years. It's kind of overwhelming how many games I have in my backlog, I remember 15 years ago, the summer of 2004, which was a huge dry spell for games, being miserably bored and desperate for anything to play, now I have more games than I realistically have the time to play. It's enough to make me have a panic attack if I think too much about it, it feels like a "be careful what you wish for" scenario. ("too many games" is still a good problem to have though) Sexy.

I don't mind not getting Black Panther, but Kenzan and Ishin would be great.

Streets of Rage was always corny. That's part of what makes it good. Exactly.
And Cherry Hunter looks totally fine by me - her design fits the whole early 90s Rock/Grunge-vibe the devs seem to be going for.
