Yeah, that's definitely not confusing at all. I figure it'll probably link up at some point since the room at the beginning kinda looks like the final boss room in the original. Regardless, the idea of having multiple different worlds is something baked into the plot so it isn't super weird to go that route.

XBox series X is going to be confusing for parents buying it for their kids.

It barely sounds like a console at all. And the letter ’X’ was already used once, so yeah... I wouldn’t be surprised if some parents buys an Xbox One X by mistake.
Also, I honestly though Bravely Default II was a Switch port of Bravely Second? It’s not? Well I never.....

At least Square didn't go with Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light III — Bravely Default II! Maybe they should have...

Yeah, the whole XboX naming scheme is as dumb as the Wii to Wii-U thing.

Finished Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Kind of fitting since they announced the sequel now. I pretty much liked everything about it but the combat. Which I don't think you are supposed to like. It fits the atmosphere that one would dread having to do it. It's not even the Survival Horror kind of simply making the fighting shit, it's overall a sound system, but also not quite the DMC/GoW kind where you feel cool and accomplished. I dunno, they certainly fit what the game is going for and aren't all too often, but I personally would have prefered if the game was more of an atmospheric Walking Simulator with a couple of vision puzzles thrown in. My favorite part was the four trials, the stages without any combat in them, and I put the game down in the one right afterwards that was exclusively fights and didn't come back for a couple of months xD Everything else about the spirit journey that combines mental health issues with religious zealotry and norse myths of yesteryear was great though.

Yeah, the whole XboX naming scheme is as dumb as the Wii to Wii-U. (Simply adding the word ’New’ to the 3DS family was also a....choice.) I think XBOX Scarlett could’ve been a perfectly fine name for this console. Or ’XBOX Pro’ or ’XBOX Next’ or whatever generic name anyone would come up with. At least they mean something.

In case you haven't been following the news, apparently Niche Gamer has been caught plagiarizing Gematsu, right down to the edits.

Yeah, the whole XboX naming scheme is as dumb as the Wii to Wii-U thing. It's even dumber. At least when it comes to the Wii U I can think of potential reasons why they might have thought it was a good idea to call it that way:
Designer A: "What about "Wii 2"?"
Designer B: "Make that "Wii U". It sounds a bit like "two" but it's much cleverer. You see, there's already a "we" and two "I's" in there, so let's add a "you" but snappier. It also reflects the system's design, with a handheld display (just for U) and the whole asymmetrical multiplayer aspect (Wii vs U)." Executives: "Brilliant, there's no way people won't get that!"
They also might have been high on the idea that they've actually gotten away with the name "Wii" in the first place.

Nintendo overall seem to have a very different view on branding. Sony has Playstation, Microsoft has Xbox. Nintendo on the other hand is all over the place with their naming. Gameboy, Wii, DS, Gamecube, Switch... and then they kill the entire brand and start over. Imagine Sony killing the name ’Playstation’...

There was also confusion about whether the Wii U was a new system or an accessory for the Wii. I absolute love the Wii U and bought one at launch, but the dumbest thing about the whole transition was how terrible Nintendo's communication was about it. The had a build in way to get information to Wii owners and then barely used it! I suspect this was primarily an issue with NoA as for all its reputation as a relative failure, it was the #1 console of its generation in Japan for quite some time.
Xbox Series X versus Xbox One X is going to be a similar situation. How many people are going to go out thinking just Xbox X and then get wrong one? I doubt it's really going to a huge problem, but that's an obvious point of confusion that could have been avoided entirely.

At least the burying of the GameBoy brand was in part accidental due to the popularity of the DS. I remember when the thing was first announced, Nintendo insisted it is a side project and not the proper follow up to the GBA. You know, just in case it flops. But it got so insanely popular that it became their new handheld brand. Anyways. I think we can all agree they should have just gone NES, Super NES, Mega NES, Ultra NES etc.
