I'm mostly scanning these articles I wrote awhile ago to clock out redundancy. Hence this nugget I found at the very end:
Instead of saying "Konami's similar Vendetta," edit that with "Vendetta, the much-improved sequel to Crime Fighters." It's a bit mouthier, but it gives better clarification.

Hmm... I wonder if this site should branch out into writing about films so we could cover Super Hornio Bros. Or at least the Dennis Hopper as Bowser film.

This game doesn't sound very good, but may be fun to screw around with for a while. It gives off kusoge vibes.
That guy dressed like a pimp in the intro looks like he has a total creeper's grin. O.O

HG101 please give this game a second opinion, this game is truly amazing... and the article is spreading false information, because it tackles the game as a Final Fight game.
Please have a look at this video, which explains how to play this game.

I've sat through 30 minutes of that video, and while I commend them for giving it a fair shake, I ultimately disagree with it. I think it's completely fair to criticize the game for having unintuitive mechanics when compared against most beat 'em ups, and even when played "properly", the game still looks immensely repetitive and boring. Seriously, most of the video is tank top guy kicking dudes in the crotch.
More importantly, why would you pick this game over Final Fight, Streets of Rage, or even Konami's beat 'em ups? All of those are flashier, more accessible, deeper (barring most of Konami's output), and much more interesting to play when compared with DD Crew.

All it says that Streets of Rage is like Final Fight and Sega didn't bring that to arcades, and that D.D. Crew was Segas only arcade beat-'em-up with a modern urban setting at the time. I do agree that the article could do with a sentence or two spelling out what the unusual mechanics mean for the game (re - avoiding enemy throngs because you can only hit one at a time, keeping them at a proper distance to be able to use your specials, etc.), but just because it works on some level does not make D.D. Crew a good game.

Given watching it makes it look repetitive, but playing the game is a constant thrill because the crowd control game is really satisfying, I think it's for the better then u can only hit one enemy. There are only 4 grunts, which isn't much but given that u can only hit one at a time u have to seperate grunts. Also ur using ur whole arsenal of moves to the max, like the Arcade final fight. Few games can get that balance right. This game is the beat'em up man's beat'em up. Pure crowd control game, it's heaps better then a good chunk of Konami's catalogue I even prefer it over overated unbalanced junk like the Mystara games. U have shit like Spider-Man and Arabian Magic by SEGA and u have godlike games like DD Crew. If ur really into beat'em up, and i really mean really. None of that SFC/SNES watered down crap, but arcade u understand why this game is so good. Zoning like a true baddie, this game is really satisfying and I have been screaming this for years, but always get shot down on HG101. It's good to see fellow comrades trying to make a cause for this game too.

Funny, I remember this exact same argument happening in here before, but for some reason it's gone now, and there's this one now and...geez, I'm confused now.
But no. I tried DD Crew a few times and it just doesn't gel with me. I wouldn't mind the idea of only being able to hit one guy at a time if the enemies were not capable of stacking on each other and hitting you all at once. That's just poor balance.

I get bored of this game usually after five minutes. It doesn't do anything noteworthy in my book.

Was it deleted? Was it in another thread? Was it merely a shared fever dream? DD Crew feels like a game that's not very good, but some folks found a unique way to play it that makes it fun to them. I don't really agree with that assessment because my time spent playing the game felt very poor too, but I understand the rationale. I guess it reminds me of Tough Turf, another Sega published beat-em-up, which isn't a great game by any means, but the fact that it loads you up with weapons to combat the otherwise crappy mechanics gives a different feel than most other beat-em-ups.

Actually, you want to know what I did the last time I played DD Crew? I opened the control window, assigned every player's controls to the same buttons, dumped in about twenty dollars worth of credits, and played as every player character at once. Being capable of the same "dude stacking" tactics as the enemy thugs...amazingly doesn't make the game much more playable. It's funny to watch, but egads, is it still dull after a few minutes...
