Lik-Sang, the popular import game dealer, has just announced that they are closing their doors. www.lik-sang.com/news.php?artc=3901This is due to everybody's favorite company, Sony, suing the pants off of the small hardcore gamer favorite. You know what this means, guys. Sony now has to go bankrupt. Do everything you can to make sure they fail this generation. Do not buy a PS3. Buy the rest of your PS2 and PSP games used. Make sure they know how pissed we are.

Also order your import goods while you can at your favorite dealer while you can. I would be even more pissed if Play-Asia died, too.

Sad. If one reads between the lines one can see it's due to protecting Sony from liability in case an import fails to conform to safety standards. I don't see this as being very good for business anywhere, and it makes the region free aspect of the PS3 that people talked about kind of a farce.

While I'm not sure if I ever bought from Lik-Sang, that does suck nonetheless. Seems like we're really running out of options for importing as the years go by. Some of my favorite stores of years ago all but stopped dealing in imports, and others like, NCS, burned me so I got a semi-boycott on them.
I guess I'm down to pretty much just Play-Asia for new imports, but, fortunately, most of my importing is of older, used titles anyway.

Ebay and Japanvideogames.com best choices
Japanvideogames.com are my last resort back up. Just in case Sony Liksangs play asia but I have my doubts they will. Sony will just legal battle themselves into bankruptcy if they sue everyone. Lawsuits are part of why nintendo lost it's domanent position.

While I'm mad at Sony over this (more on principle since I've never imported from Lik-Sang and their treatment of a few other import based companies *cough*Working Designs*cough*), I think it's probably way too soon to write them out unless the PS3 really bombs. rpgfan.com/news/2006/1507.html

I never specifically bought from Lik-Sang, either, but it's a shame to see a popular import company go under especially when the legal battles that got rid of Lik-Sang could open doors to lawsuits against other sites I like. Plus I hate the way Sony does business and the fact that they keep many 2D games (non-compilation) out of America. Plus their hardware is shit. I've seen so many people with Disc Read Errors in my time, being that I work at a Gamestop.

I bought my SuperJoyBox PS2-USB adapter from LikSang. Heck, I bought two of them. Excellent service, great price, and it's really sad to see them go after all the crap they had to go through to be a legitimate dealer of gaming goods.

Can you not import from amazon. yes you can but opening up an account with Amazon.co.jp is a HUGE PAIN there are at least 100 Import Retailers that serve the US and 10-20 that work in Europe only. Sony could blow alot of money going after all 100 of them or attack 1by 1 Sony can afford a class action suit even if they are the Plaintiff.

I wish they'd have given a less ambigous reason to why they closed their doors (Lik-Sang that is). I can't help but wonder exactly what was the specific reason they HAVE to close up shop.
Since I'm in Australia I used Lik-Sang to get my Dreamcast, Freeloader for GC and Resident Evil 4 (I wasn't waiting 4 months for PAL release.)
