The village's items are overpriced for what they are imo, save for the growth egg (2x JP and exp ! ) and the special moves.

Ok you guys make this game sound so convoluted I'm not even sure where the 'old-school RPG feel' designation is coming from anymore...

Primarily the village thing It's just a simple town building thing, nothing very complex.

And the more you build the town, the better items are available in its shops, right? Plenty of games have done that.

And what's more, the shops sell their items through the Red-Clad man who saves your game in various towns and caves and such. Sadly, he no longer has a pet fox like he did in 4 Heroes of Light.

On a totally coincidental note, he now sells fine fox-skin caps.

Alright so this is pretty cool so far. Game is pretty grindy so far, but I may have gone a bit overboard. Because the last boss I just obliterated, I have to be just about done with Chapter 1.

On a totally coincidental note, he now sells fine fox-skin caps. As it turns out, the fox is still in the game. He just doesn't follow the red guy around anymore. He's found outside of a perverted old man's house, selling items and weapons/armor. Alright so this is pretty cool so far. Game is pretty grindy so far, but I may have gone a bit overboard. Because the last boss I just obliterated, I have to be just about done with Chapter 1. This is why I've been turning off EXP gain when I feel I'm getting close to the game's expected level threshold, but still feel like I need more money or JP. Yeah, it'll make the game take longer to finish, but at least bosses will still have a shot at hurting me pretty decently.

I'll need to get started on this, but I've been monkeying around with Fallout 2 and PS2/PS3 hard drives all weekend.
