Maaaaan this game is great. I'm in Chapter 2 and I've got 11 jobs now. I haven't really grinded, and the one time I did I turned off EXP since all I needed was some extra money to buy spells. I'm playing on Hard and the damage is just getting really high even when I have the best armor. But I've found that using Special Moves really helps a lot to take down bosses.

Kinda "town grinding" while I get some other stuff done, but I'm really enjoying it thus far.
My only gripe, and this is purely a presentational one, is that the bosses thus far don't really have any sort of sendoff. For all their hammy cartoon villainy, it's kinda disappointing that they just collapse and fade in silence instead of at least getting a "No! This can't be!" or something before going down.

My copy just showed up. But guess I ought to finish Pokemans first.

I've since realized, on normal difficulty, if I'm only facing 1 or 2 (hell, sometimes 3) enemies in random encounters, there's no reason not to go to town with abusing Brave and just blitzing them with attacks before they even get a chance.

Shit, 4 is easy peasy to do it on. And like I said I just accidentally did that to a boss. But I forgot I could kill my EXP gains.

Yeah, whenever I feel like I'm getting to the point where I'm not getting hit in random counters anymore, I turn off EXP gain.

Yeah, focusing on offense and speed is by far the easiest way to deal with random battles. I've found that most boss fights really put a stop to that strategy, though.

So Ringabel. Best character ever or best character ever?
Seriously though I'm really enjoying this game. Feels like a Final Fantasy from an alternate universe where 7-14 never existed. They've taken the annoying random parts about JRPGs and given control to the players. Battles take too long? Fast Forward! Random Encounters in your way of finding that last treasure chest? Just turn them off! Game gives you an astounding amount of freedom.
Way more characterization than I expected. Sort of Tales like with the party chats. Dub is pretty good too. Tiz might be a little too generic but everyone else sounds great. Especially the cartoonish one shot villains. Even kind of like Edea's "mrgrgrs".

It seems mostly obvious where Ringabel's "Amnesia" arc is going if the airship incident early on is any indication, it just depends on how they handle it, I guess. Barras Lehr was awesome, though.

Yeah if you read the journal Ringabel's character arc is pretty apparent. I was more referring to his womanizing ways.

I can't respect a guy with a name and hairstyle like Ringabel's. His status screen portrait has the worst smirk on it...
Of course, I am basing this entirely on the demo...

I'm actually glad they left him with that doofus name of his. They could have very easily given him something a lot less ridiculous, but the character just wouldn't be the same without it.

And what a funy name for an amnesiac. Ring a bell? A little on the nose but eh.

I figured his name was supposed to be a joke about his amnesia.
"Huh. That woman. Her appearance sure does...RING-A-BELL"
*canned laughter*
