I figured his name was supposed to be a joke about his amnesia. "Huh. That woman. Her appearance sure does...RING-A-BELL" *canned laughter* All the player character names are supposed to be stupid jokes, hence Tiz's last name being pronounced like "Warrior" without the W, even though there's no other justification for "Arrior" making that sound, and Edea Lee being "Ideally", etc...

I finished Chapter 2 and can't wait to see what new jobs show up in 3. This game's boss design is easily the most similar thing to FFV and that's a great thing. Every boss has a kind of gimmick, and since the Job system is so broad you can deal with it in any number of ways. I tend to be really stubborn though and don't grind a couple job levels even though the next abilities would have greatly helped against a particular boss. I bought the first 2 special shields you can get from the Norende village and those feel legitimately overpowered, so I think I'll self-limit myself to only 1 copy of each Norende equipment for now.

I bought the first 2 special shields you can get from the Norende village and those feel legitimately overpowered, so I think I'll self-limit myself to only 1 copy of each Norende equipment for now. That's along the lines of my only issue with the game, so far, if you even want to call it that. I feel like I'm playing the game the wrong way, no matter what I do. Everything you get in this game makes you feel overpowered, because they don't push 'perfect play' against bosses. With the way the game's battle system works, 'perfect play' really seems like it was the aim, but getting new job abilities makes you feel like you've been over-grinding and you're cheating the system. Being able to afford new equipment or magic makes you feel like you've been over-grinding and you're cheating the system. By giving you the options it does in equipment and abilities, the game makes you feel like a scrub if you avail yourself of ANY of them. And, of course, I say this, while swinging around Lu Bu's Spear in Chapter 1...

I just beat the Fire Crystal boss and I think it turned me off completely from playing on Hard difficulty. I just don't think Hard is balanced very well, and focusing on defense to try and live instead seems at-odds with how much this game wants you to be offensive all the time. So ultimately that just means you have to focus even more on offense...

A good offense is the best defense. The monster can't hurt you if it's dead.

I've only got 3 jobs left to get and I only know what 2 of them are so the mystery of the final job is killing me. I'm really liking these new jobs that aren't in FF5 though.

Now that's a useless job. Worse than even an Onion Knight.

But if you level it up you become a god. It's whispered that few may even attain modhood.

I'm enjoying the hell out of this game (finishing up Chapter 1) but everything I hear about Chapters 5 and beyond have deflated my expectations. I think want to do an article on this game, but it would pretty much require an elaborate history of the Final Fantasy job system along with a review of 4 Heroes of Light.
