Anyone else pick this up? I saw it at the store the other day and couldn't resist. 28 Genesis games for only 20 bucks. What's on there you ask? Well it has Phantasy Star II, III and IV for starters, plus a slew of other quality titles. The most notable omissions are Shining Force I and II plus the Streets of Rage trilogy(which are pretty damn big omissions if you ask me) but it's still definitely worth picking up.

It has an interview with Reiko Kodama.
For a middle aged Japanese woman, she is pretty hot.

It has awesome games, but I already finish most of the good ones (Sonic 1 & 2, Ristar, Shinobi 3, Shadow Dancer, Golkden Axe 1-3, Phantasy Star 4) or played them until they become too much hard (like Comix Zone or Gain Ground). So I don't think I will buy it.

I'm going to get the PSP version - $20 is a great deal. I've been meaning to play Ristar and PS4, but I just haven't really had the patience to do it in an emulator. Maybe having it on my handheld system will motivate me to play it.

The most notable omissions are Shining Force I and II plus the Streets of Rage trilogy(which are pretty damn big omissions if you ask me)... It pisses me off that Sega decides to not include these games, yet includes Sonic, Sonic 2, Ristar, Flicky, and Comix Zone, games that can be gotten on Sonic Mega Collection + and, as far as the first Sonic is concerned, just about everywhere else. And I'm just flat-out sick of seeing Columns, Golden Axe, and Altered Beast. Still, the Ecco games, Phantasy Star IV (the collection's main attraction by far), Gain Ground, and the Shinobi games are of slight interest, so I may pick this up.

This collection also has the arcade versions of Altered Beast, Future Spy, Zaxxon, and Tac-Scan in it. Those right there are the main reason I want this collection. I'm hoping that they turned out good.

Wait, for what systems is this collection? If I know Sega, they should have a PS2 version! And I demand a PS2 version being brought to me...at a reasonable price of course.

Yeah, it's for the PS2 as well and it's only 20 bucks to boot.
I'm starting to think some of the more glaring omissions are just because Sega wants to release a Volume 2 in the future.

PSP version for me, though I am getting kinda pissed that most of the games I have for it are classic compilations. The PSP needs some good original RPG's and adventure games stat!

Lets just get this straight. If emulation never did exist, I would be absolutely overwhelmed by the collection. The truth is that emulation has been around for a long time so this collection just doesnt excite me that much. What does excite me is that it does have:
interviews with the original developers that created the original titles, a museum area with interesting facts about the games, a hint area to help players complete their favorite SEGA Genesis games, and SEGA arcade titles from the Genesis era to unlock.
This is the selling point. Every collection released for current gen systems nowadays should have these extras. Capcom knows how to make great nostalgia collections as does Activision which threw in commercials from the early 80's of some of the games. Bring on the bonus content.

The thing is..emulation is illegal, espcially when they release packs like this containing titles, people whine and justify themselves all day by saying *you can't get them anymore* (which I do as well) but if you can then it's very much illegal.
