Yeah, good points there. I don't much feel like paying for something that's going to be crap. Same thing about banging someone over the head for a recent failure. Time heals all wounds, as they say.
But... Vampire Rain, that's the ticket! I... have paid 5$ for it once, but I played and got rid of it. I could patch something up from memory and Let's plays. Has someone already done that one?

Oh did anyone reserve Elnark no Zaihou ? Might be worth covering, seeing that the karma meter or whatever it's called will literally screw you over if you kill one enemy too many in the final dungeon, plus just how maddeningly reticent it is about everything you have to do.

Long time lurker here. Decided to make an account to see if Smashing Drive was worthy of being called a Kusoge. It isn't abhorrent like a lot of the games covered but it's certainly very strange and well, not very good. If anything pushes it into Kusoge status, it's the soundtrack.
The game itself is a pretty generic arcade racer albeit with some strange moments (you chase King Kong up the Empire State Building at one point). It's definitely not a good game but it is better than Lunar DS or Superman. It might not fit the general Kusoge section but I'd absolutely lump it in with ToTD and Noby Noby Boy.
And if all else fails, there is GBA version.

A good kusoge isn't "God, this is terrible.", it's "God, everyone comes see how terrible this is!". Considering that I made a submission for Muscle March, which, by most accounts, does what it set out to do, just.... In it's own bizarre way.

I actually considered doing an article for Smashing Drive and its spiritual predecessor Radikal Bikers months ago. Dunno if I'll still do it, but feel free to do the Smashing Drive YWK if you like.
Radikal Bikers also has a pretty odd soundtrack.

Seems it only came out in Europe unfortunately. Just played through the game again tonight and took some notes. Further confirmed what I already thought. Kusoge material for sure. I'll do a write-up on it ASAP. Shouldn't be too hard. I'm more worried about getting pictures.

It's the PS1 port of Radikal Bikers that was Euro-only; the original arcade version was released in the US by Atari Games, and it even had a Japanese release by SNK of all companies, although around that time they had also licensed a few other Atari Games games (San Francisco Rush and Maximum Force) so it makes sense. Still weird.

i would like to try to write something about neptunia when i have the time, but to be honest i'm not sure my writing skills are up to par and this would be like the 3rd compile heart on the kusoge section, also the one i played the most was the third game when maybe starting from the first one would be better (the third game at least does it's own things as it takes place in some alternate universe and only shares the character with the other two games)
should i try anyway? if yes, where should i send the article?

The first Neptunia is Kusoge-tier. However I can only vouch for MK2 and I thought it fine gameplay-wise. btw Welcome on board dreadtoaster!
I went back to my backlog so I may have something. I am currently writing Megablast from earlier. A quick question is how should I tackle my screencaps for the Engrish attract scene intro? Do you like links because I don't see many YWK with galleries. I'm also tempted to finally play my copy of Naughty Bear (Gold Edition), do you still allow screenshots from the internet for YWK should I write about my experience?

Somebody needs to do a kusoge entry on The Letter for the Wii U. 2 dollars for a game that lasts 16 minutes and has all text cutscenes.
As for my submission to the thread, I might do Hour of Victory or Ride to Hell Retribution.

I'm tempted to play that remake of the first game; I really liked the concept, but that game... the sequels were indeed better as you said, though.

the third game has a cutscene where the characters complain about fighting the same boss for the 3rd time in the whole game, i'm not sure i would call "better" a game that is self aware of how bad it is

The fact that they lampshade it is pretty awesome though, props to Neptunia for that.

Looked at bosses for the game, the recurring boss is called Copypaste. Not sure if that is who they are talking about though, haven't played the game.

I don't find the above picture funny or clever at all. Kusoge material to me. Way too many games have already pointed at their own flaws and went: "haha! Look how I suck! Aren't I great!" Just create another boss already.
That's a good example of what I was talking about earlier: the different tricks small teams use to shore up their game (the games are sometimes shitty, but not necessarily).
In the West: use a visual gimmick (often contre-jour, high contrast or black & white) and make the game a metaphor about life and stuff, y'know?
Japan: sexualised minors, bigger boobs and "funny" banter (with just text and portraits, much cheaper than cutscenes).
