You know what pisses me off? Sony, Microsoft,, Konami, Bungie, Valve.
Why? Because. It's fun for a little while "These graphics are so cool and realistic" "look at these physics!" And then it sets it. Games are supposed to be fucking ESCAPISM. Alright? Key word there ESCAPE. When we try to get away from real life I think we don't want to be reminded of it. I mean - The photo-realism is cool but fucking DO something with it. Dark messiah is awesome, it's photo realistic and has imagination. Oblivion doesn't really have imagination because everything is so fucking plain and bland without mods. I mean fucking seriously? Do you REALLY need those extra 900000 lighting effects and all of the horribly laggy destructable terrain? Why not make more games like God of War or OKAMI or even fucking MEGAMAN.

What about fucking Killer7? or FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I kind of get what you mean but its fucking sweet a shit to shoot some fucking dude with a rocket launcher and the rag doll physics take in and then you think "thats fucking sweet as shit" and then you play some game with awesome lighting effects and you play that on HD and it makes you feel closer to this fantasy realm where you can do what ever the fuck you want.

Not when the corpses just kind of drop to the ground regardless of how your physics are.

I like realistic physics but unrealistic gameplay. Half-Life, therefore, is the best series on PC ever for me.

C'mon now, Mazin. You know you want a PS3 because of the...graphics, right? And, uh...what games are coming out for it? Oh right, DMC3. Yeah, that one. That's worth $700, right?
Oh, and then there's the way the PS3 spontaneously solves rubicks cubes and then...destroys them in a mess of color. And makes creepy baby dolls come to life.
...Almost forgot, it plays DVDs. I mean, that's incredibly important, because you NEED a 4th dvd player in your household.
*coughs*

...Almost forgot, it plays DVDs. I mean, that's incredibly important, because you NEED a 4th dvd player in your household. Well, it does play Blu-Ray discs as well, which is somewhat of an advantage... ...then again, Blu-Ray movies haven't been receiving the best reception lately, to say the least, with reportedly worse audio/visual quality than the less-expensive HD-DVD format and even regular DVDs in a few cases, so maybe it's not such an advantage at this time.

If Blue-Ray loses the console war then it's pointless owning a player for it. Graphics should enhance a games style, it shouldn't be just about the quality or quantity.

I was just poking fun at the fact that everybody gets offended when a system doesn't have a dvd player. If I wanted a frickin dvd player, I'd go out and buy one. I want a GAMING CONSOLE, not a multimedia gadget.

It's not an advantage- they want you to think it's an advantage... Blu-Ray is their format. You know what pisses me off? Sony, Microsoft,, Konami, Bungie, Valve. Why? Because. Also, I don't think it's fair to include Bungie in that equation... Halo has a style all of it's own... from it's architecture to it's vehicles, there's a clear train-of-thought running throughout all it's design work. Actually, I don't think it's fair to include Sony or Microsoft either... it's not really up to them to make games for their systems... most of that weight lies on the developers. I can understand being sick of the thousands of WWII shooters out there... but can you honestly say that playing with the Gravity-Gun in HL2 reminds you of reality? It certainly doesn't strike any realistic chords within me.

I agree more God of War, Okami, Megaman!
Halo is a great game but what ticks me off is that you pretty much fight the same 5 types of enemies throught the whole friggin game. I cant stand shooting the same enemies over and over.

About it not being fair to mention Bungie with these other corporations: They are property of Microsoft. Meaning: Bungie is Microsoft.
And while console developers are not responsible for their consoles games, except to a extent Nintendo, their policies do control their industry. Perhaps not every aspect of it completely, but they do have control. And given that those two that were mentioned are their industries largest corporations, they do have much control of their industry. So they are partialy to blame at least for it's current state, good or bad.

I understand you point completely... but I'm not talking about them not being to blame for the state of the console industry as a whole... I agree there. If the average Joe Gamer actually brought titles like Jet Set Radio, Okami and other games which do not fit into the generic, photo-realistic graphics mould, then the industry would have more games like that. But people keep buying crap like Need For Speed and 'insert-random-realistic-WWII-shooter-here'... ...people keep buying, so developers keep on making...

Bungie made Marathon and Myth. For that, they are automatically excused from making the Halo games so disappointing (If you've read Ringworld, and followed the game from it's pre-production stages, you know what I mean).

I hate realistic style, I hate realistic gameplay, I hate realistic graphics, I hate realistic things in games in generally... What's so good about realism? it's just boring.
This is one of the reasons I hate most western games
