Only ever played King's Field II. (Which is apparently actually III).
King's Field is less a game and more a dark incantation of praise to the terrible things that wait beyond the grave.

After having beaten KF, KF2, KF3, and KF4... you're not wrong. Although Shadow Tower and Shadow Tower Abyss are even closer to that distinction. I've beaten those as well, but I wouldn't cut anyone over hating them.

Shock Trooper - 2nd Squad, it's not exactly bad-mouthed. It's just stated that it's worse (or at least not better) than the prequel, written in review on this site. That's makes me slightly frown. A reason according to that review is: character selection that is shrunk (from lots to 4) In Shock Trooper I, that many character only differ from each other in variety standard weapon and bomb While in Shock Trooper II, each of 4 character has different melee (cosmetic reason), and stats (attack, defense, speed, and evasion) beside standard weapon & bomb so difference between character is more significant. Another reason: Shock Trooper I sets in faux-Vietnamese setting , while Shock Trooper II sets in modern setting which there is a battle between evil corporation and resistance force. Thus i dare to say that Shock Trooper II is more smartly designed than the prequel. I may be wrong as i never play Shock Trooper I, because MAME in my laptop isn't compatible or anything with it.

There is no other game that conjures up quite the same atmosphere that KF does. You're so right it hurts. I've searched in vain for equivalents believe me. The "Souls" series is not it unfortunately.

I've been thinking of giving King's Field: The Ancient City a shot, is it as hard core as the past entries?

So, is it okay to post in this thread? Eh, I'll do it anyway. Bioshock 2 is the best Bioshock and Mass Effect 3 is the best Mass Effect. Though I'm actually way too tired of defending them at this point. Dark Souls 2... well, it's not the best 'Souls, but it's a good game and in quite a few ways better than the others. Easily the best for PVP for sure. P.N. 03 is another game I have huge soft spot for, despite acknowledging that it's flawed and incomplete in many ways. I love BioShock 2.

Oh yea, I liked Sonic: Lost World also. It was like a mix of Colors and Mario Galaxy.

Nostalgia filled view here - Zelda II - Adventures of Link is an underappreciated side scrolling masterpiece.

Zelda II rules and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Oh yea, I liked Sonic: Lost World also. It was like a mix of Colors and Mario Galaxy. I thought it was pretty good, too, especially as far as modern Sonic games go. I'm not sure why it was so poorly received. I really can't say anything bad about it. The only thing it does that hasn't been done by Colors is rip off Mario Galaxy, but that's not really a point against it. It was a generally solid modern sonic game.

Talking Sonic Adventure, I love the levels of that game. You didn't need to homing attack constantly and this was made before the rails grinding (not that I hate rails, but there's an over-reliance of it in later games). I appreciated the story expanding the lore of the classics, not just about Angel Island/Master Emerald but the story where Amy protects a Flicky and witnessing the entire lifespan of one of Eggman's robots. It has the perfect depth and tone the rest of the 3D games never quite matched.

Final Fantasy XIII. I think I'm one of the few people on this planet that genuinely enjoyed FF XIII. Easy to play, little thinking required. Very direct. I was really fascinated by the mythology of Gran Pulse. Beautiful environments, with some catchy with Masashi Hamauzu taking the reigns of composer this time around. I like Lightning for being a militant, ain't-got-time-for-bullshit kind of unwavering personality.
