GOG is running sales on the Wing Commander series, and of course, X-Wing and Tie Fighter were just released. I don't want to break the bank, but I really wanted to play these - does anyone have any recommendations on a relatively inexpensive but serviceable flight stick? Or are those two things mutually exclusive? It depends on if you want to take a chance on a used stick. I've bought a lot of flight sticks from Goodwill in the past; it's really hit-or-miss if you'll find anything in your area, but that's honestly the first place I'd look. On the online markets, the most size-economical I've seen is the Microsoft Sidewinder USB. Reasonably comfortable, but from my experience, too lightweight, and you may have to hold the base down while using it. Sadly, my weapons of choice are all too expensive online (IMO); the Thrustmaster Top Gun Afterburner seems to be going for ~$60 used (and they don't manufacture that version anymore, either), the Sidewinder 3D Pro and Force Feedback Pro are both Gameport-only and you're unlikely to have a computer that has those nowadays, and while CH Products still makes USB versions of the classic FlightStick Pro, they want almost $90 for it.

Weasel, Thrustmaster just rebranded it as T-Flight Hotas X.
However, I've heard that the Thrustmaster T.16000M, while a bit ugly, is super accurate with none of the minor deadzone issues you get in cheaper sticks. I'm thinking of picking one up.
Right now I do have the Logitech Extreme 3D pro, and while fairly decent, it does have a small deadzone in the middle where movements don't do anything.
