I guess with all of the patterns and repetition, it makes sense that a certain type of person would be attracted to hardcore shooting games. What's that supposed to mean? I can't say without offending people.

I am surprised somebody would read that up to the fourth paragraph. The part where it says "Besides, I don't have any relevant statistics to back it up, and though I could certainly do some research and come up with some myself, frankly, I have better things to do with my time." was all it needed for me to know that he doesn't give a damn about either his subject or his readers. Nothing spells disrespect better than that. The author's time is too precious to deal with the likes of Karl Kulata and other "friends" (second paragraph). It's an unreadable, senseless, insulting, meaningless, slanderous piece of garbage. Above all: unreadable. Stunningly poor mastery of English, and I say that as a foreigner. (A mainstream, f*g foreigner, lol)... ...Remember people: HE was there when "sh*t went down" and don't you forget it no matter whatever it may mean. ROFL. A real Nowhere Man, that one... No comment

Didn't read the whole article (only a few lines here and there) but I was surprised when he mentioned Pixel, a cult, greek video games magazine from the early '80s (which began as a magazine for computer games but later also started to review console games as well). Maybe he was living in Greece for some years, who knows. The hilarious part is when he talks shit about other, "inferior" greek video games magazines (one of them was probably the greek version of Gamepro which came to Greece on mid '90s) and he forgets the fact that Pixel's quality dropped a lot at the '90s (it was nothing like the old Pixel that many people used to love) and that was one of the reasons it ended at mid '90s (another reason was of course the competition with Gamepro). Yeap. Not biased at all.

I'm pretty sure icycalm went like full nazi a while back? Yep: orgyofthewill.net/EDIT: Like I don't think anyone who's reading list is that much Nietzsche could be anything but a Nazi.

Applying existential philosophy to a video game which has you beat up gangs in subway stations (and was pretty much a ripoff of The Warriors, theme-wise) is in a way grandiose in its disregard of scope and mode of communication. EVERYTHING is to be scrutinized from the most general mode of observation possible! I mean, I'm not stranger to this (I got a degree in sociology), but his approach is trying so hard to show that he's well-read and got a shit ton of popular and known (!) figures in his intellectual lineage that you only wonder - why do you need to emphasize this? Because it obviously doesn't speak for itself, that's why.
That being said, I only scanned through the first couple of lines and the part where he mentioned Kurt (did a quick CTRL + F for that one). Is there seriously an audience for this? Is the gamer hellbent on being as elitist as possible likely to roam in groups?
Also, I kinda hope his last name doesn't indicate any relation to the "actual" Kierkegaard. 'cos that would be quite a shame.

This is where I add that he went nuclear about people regurgitating other people's opinions, and then he spends most of his textarrhoea regurgitating crap out of philosophy books... (Not arguing with you, pretty much agreeing with you here.)
