There is so much more to the Neo Geo than Metal Slug, Magician Lord, and fighting games. :/ If you're gonna rag on a system, at least do so for legitimate reasons. Or, you know, don't rag on it at all if you're that inexperienced with it.

Magician Lord's mention seemed kind of left field. I just figured if someone knew about Magician Lord they'd know about a good few other non-fighters for the platform.
I'd cast my vote but everyone probably already knows what it is and I'm biased. I do like the galleries on Saturn's KoF ports, though—those're special.

Does the Neo Geo CD count for this? Many of the cool extras on the console ports of SNK's games are actually from the Neo CD versions, in some cases they even have stuff that hasn't appeared anywhere else.

Magician Lord isn't even that great, in my opinion. I can think of just about a million better Neo Geo non-fighters (okay that's an extreme exaggeration, haha, but still).

Like most ADK games Magican Lord is a good game that should have been an incredible game. You'd think since ADK was instrumental in designing the Neo Geo hardware itself they of all devs would have had a better grasp getting smooth controls and hit detection out of it and stuff.

I think the same about Magician Lord. It has some breathtaking A/V assets for such an early game. ML and Nam '75 are the oldest, most nostalgic NEO-GEO games for me. Well, at least Nam '75 was rather easy, and as fun as it was impressive.

I would think if that sequel to Magician Lord was a reality (for the Neo Geo CD, not the NGP successor it eventually became, which got canned), it probably could've been more awesome than the first game.
Maybe.

Maybe.Wait, Waaaa? A Magician Lord sequel for the NGP? Mind blown. Do you have any kind of link to anything? Unbelievable! How could it would have been... Magician Lord would have had a better reputation in the end if the home releases had kept the arcade rule of making you continue where you died instead of sending you back so far all the time. Then at least people would have been able to enjoy the spectacle in full. (Then again, it kind of suited the game to be even more than NES hard.

No! Awesome-o! you've made my day. As if I did not like the NGPC enough! That game has become one of my newest, greatest "what if"s. It looks so good! Gamekult are the only French site I visit, once every semester, but they're solid, knowledgeable veterans. Good for Puyo, that guy's been over there for more than twenty years. Unbelievably cool. I would have loved it. (Although not as much as Match of the Millenium, nothing can top that one).

Ultimate 2D console? I'm gonna say anything being sold right now could outdo the Neo Geo and Saturn in terms of 2D. Hell, my phone can probably run more advanced 2D games. If we're talking about game library though, I'm going to throw my hat into the SNK camp. I can't even begin to tell you how much money I pumped into the local MVS machines to play Samurai Shodown, Metal Slug 2 and SVC Chaos. And I mean just look at Mark of the Wolves. LOOK AT IT!!!
Thing is, after the whole bankruptcy fiasco, SNK Playmore games just failed to impress me. I think the later KoF character designs rubbed me completely the wrong way and games like NGBC just had weird systems.
