Ah I remember that "moe dictators" book, I found Papa Doc to be pretty creative... or maybe it's just my witch fetish, who knows. Oh, that is who the witch girl is supposed to be? I assumed it was Papa Doc but couldn't be quite sure.

It's a little appetizer, to see non-transparent ones on the other girls, please buy the overpriced DVDs with one episode per volume.

Not even Steam is immune! Recently a monster girl visual novel has been translated and released. It's called Love At First Sight (original title: Hitomebore) and features a cyclops girl. It's short and costs too much for what it offers, but it's a start for fans of the genre. Curiously, this girl has the exactly same personality of the cyclops in Daily Life with Monster Girls, that is, scared of being seen as a freak by others, overly shy and self-conscious.

The craze doesn't seem to die down (maybe also because of Monster Musume's unexpected success in the USA) so there are talks of other adaptations from this niche genre. One example is Demi-chan wa Kataritai (proposed English title: Interviews with Monster Girls), a manga that's recently been slated to become an anime from January 2017, no doubt following the success of other series. It's still a slice of life story, but unlike MonMusu is completely SFW and very gentle/cute, mostly dealing with the typical troubles of pre-teen girls... who are demis, short for demi-humans. My only complaints are that the school setting is overused and that only a few issues of the manga came out, so there's not much to adapt from. Anyway here's the cast: From the left: succubus (the most modest ever), snow woman (or yuki-onna), dullahan, vampire and uh...human girl (vampire's sister). Guy in the back is the protagonist, a teacher who spent all his life searching for demi-humans and then discovered that half of his school is secretly made of them.

Interesting thread, but didn't the greek mythology started the monster girl thing?
They created mermaids (Siren), Dryad, Centaur, Medusa (Snake), fairies, Satyr, Minotaur, elephants (well hinduism) Catgirls/Werecat only exist, because of feline therianthropic. Almost every country has that through their folklore. You could even argue that this is the reason why we have furries.
Even christianity created monster girls, (werewolves, Succubus, Incubus, sexy demons) I mean the italian depiction of holy and unholy angels or devils, it seems hardcore. Especially, european/american painters sexualized every kind of human/animal/monster hybrid in the last few centuries.
From my point of view, this is not a japanese thing. The fetish started many years ago. I don't understand why Japan are always depicted as weird. We have done that more than twice.
Yours sincerely

Japan really isn't that much weirder than most countries, it's just that they've been more open about commercializing as many fetishes as they can think of.

Especially, european/american painters sexualized every kind of human/animal/monster hybrid in the last few centuries. Care to elaborate about that? I'm Italian myself but don't remember seeing anything of the sort (sexy angels and devils), unless you refer to the work of artists like Milo Manara and such. And yes, that whole "Japan is weird LOL" is not as effective as it once was.

And yes, that whole "Japan is weird LOL" is not as effective as it once was. You mean italian? Not sexy or provocative like in todays times. Nowadays, people would say it is not hardcore, it is softcore, but angels were known not to have a gender and some italian artists gave them boobs etc, for example Sebastiano Ricci or Agnolo Bronzino. (I know, not the best examples, I apologize for that and of course, this is not italian only) Bronzino made the Fresco in the Chapel of Eleonora di Toledo a questionable Cherub. Depicted as a 8 year old boy with angel wings and behind him is a tree, which is made of fruits and could be looked as a striptease bar/pole. It is not really offensive, well you see genitals, but it is harmless. The examples cannot be used for a direct comparison in todays time, but it shares the weirdness factor and that is what I wanted to point out. That view can be compared with the depiction of monster girls in todays time. Michelangelo and Luca Signorelli gave the world pictures of naked devils and they punished naked humans. I think artists like these were forerunner and influenced the future and todays people like Milo Manara. In addition they gave the world new ideas like unholy angels etc (you know, if you don't have ideas, try to break the rules/boundaries) Thus I think it is weird that people say Japan is weird, but Europe had done the same thing, but with other media and painting style. The core is the same. Yours sincerely Jack Caeylin

There's a statue of Lucifer called L'ange du mal/Le génie du mal, which became famous for being so sexy that nuns couldn't stop furiously masturbating to it. So the artist had to make the angelic being more demonic by sculpturing a new one with horns and stuff, resulting in even bigger fap material.

That's cool, didn't know about that! I suppose we have here so much art stuff that after a while we stop noticing them, it happened to me years ago while I was touring Tuscany and neighboring regions with my parents: we saw so many museums, churches, sculptures etc. that at one point everything started to blur together...
Back to the main topic: in a couple days the official Monster Musume Japan-only browser game will be closed and erased from the DMM site. I never cared about it, not just because it's Japanese only, but because it's one of those repetitive grind-fests a la Kantai Collection that I always despised. However! While I dislike the mechanics, I find both hilarious and amazing the number of real-life myths that the devs researched and turned into cute/sexy girls as hosts of the Interspecies Exchange. They also gave each one of them some sort of personality, and some combinations are in equal measure baffling, comical and oddly sweet. Where else can you find such things as a fashionable ogre, a NEET mothman, a playful manticore who loves Japanese shows like sentai, a timid medusa, an autistic jorogumo (Japanese spider woman), an athletic ghost... there's even the "typical" American girl as seen by Japan, complete with big bust, stars-and-stripes bikini top and brash personality... but this time it's a jackalope!
