Wasn't a big fan of duck tales remake. It's great they got the original voice cast but it's a perfect example of a game that needs to shut the fuck up.

I could've done without voice acting at all tbh. Another game that desperately needs to shut up is LittleBigPlanet on the Vita. The localization we got in my country is absolutely unbearable. Horrible, even. Never experienced anything quite like it in my entire life. I dunno how the american version sounds though, probably better. Anyway, it makes a really good platformer much less enjoyable.

Strider is a really good one. I never could get into it. For me, Strider is a straightforward game with breathtaking setpieces, not a Metroidvania. Nobody loved Double Dragon Neon? i can't believe it. Even if the game played more like Final Fight than Double Dragon, it did a lot of things right...

Neon was amazing, although it's not really a remake, either. It takes about half a stage from the original game, but that's it. Still probably the best beat-em-up of the PS3/360 generation, though.

Yeah, Neon was definitely a free take on Double Dragon. The designers followed their fancy and then called it Double Dragon. It is more of a general homage to eighties' beat'em ups. Talking about beat'em up remakes, now is the time when I come clean and admit I enjoyed Turtles in Time Re-Shelled. But I had no real nostalgia towards the old games. Am I the only one who found it perfectly adequate?

I played Castlevania ReBirth a lot. As a stand-alone game it does wonderfully, but it did a poor job reflecting anything interesting from the first two GameBoy titles.

I'm currently enjoying Ys I & II Complete/Chronicles, though I never played through the original games, only a little bit of the SMS version of the first one.

Am I the only one who found it perfectly adequate? I really enjoyed Re-Reshelled. I liked the updated control and the dashing aspect. The problem with Re-Shelled is that it takes entirely after the arcade version of Turtles in Time, which is basically inferior in about every way besides having four player support. (And as we all know from X-Men, having more players doesn't automatically make a better game. ) If there's anything I'd say is a mortal sin, though, they basically butchered the soundtrack, which was probably my favorite soundtrack of all the Konami beat-em-ups. I mean, if you like it, that's totally cool! I'm just bitching for the sake of bitching, really. But if you enjoyed Re-Shelled, and you haven't already played the SNES version, it's so good.

Bobinator The SNES version is definitely the better one. No argument there. But, I wasn't expecting to get that one so there was no real disappointment either.

I was also disappointed about Reshelled not having the original soundtrack, or the Super NES extra content. I'm still glad I got to experience it at least once though, for curiosity's sake. Regardless of its quality, part of me is kind of sad that it's not available on any digital storefront anymore. What I'd really like to see come to a digital storefront though is the original arcade TMNT Turtles in Time... or better yet, the Super NES TMNT Turtles in Time, with 4-player mode added in

Double Dragon Neon is great, but it's not really a remake. Also, it seems to be subpar on the PC. There is a lot of screen tearing on that version, even with vsync on. The PS3 version seems to be fine though. Didn't notice anything there. A game that is going to fly way under the radar is Bubble Bobble Neo on X360, though I think BB Plus is the same game but for Wiiware. It took the original game, prettied it up, and made it a tad faster. The mechanics are mostly the same, though there is 1 or 2 levels where the subtle changes were not taken into account for level design, making them a lot harder than they should be. There is also an arrange mode, featuring 100 new levels and up to 4 player co-op. The new levels are decent, though they add a new diagonal platform/bubble shooting mechanic which never really it home with me. And there are 2 DLC packs of hard mode levels, but I ever tried them. Writing this out now, I think I might go and get them. Trauma Center: Second Opinion was another great remake. It took the original DS game and turned it into an amazing Wii launch game. That game sold me on the Wii motion controls, since Twilight Princess definitely did not feel like a game that was meant to be played with them.

I played Bubble Bobble Neo for a few days when it came out, but I got stuck in that room where you have to make a bunch of bubbles and bounce clear up the side to get to the top so you drop down the middle and could not get through it for the life of me. Looking online I understand this was in the original too, but it was beyond aggravating and honestly ruined the whole game for me. Getting seventy some levels into a game and just dying repeatedly to that timer enemy for hours because you cannot perform a mechanic that is never used before this point and, if I understand correctly, is never used again after that point is just miserable.

Yeah, thats the level I'm talking about. There seems to be a little bit more room needed for the bubbles to not pop against a wall compared to the original. It requires doing a pixel perfect turn right at the inner wall to be able to blow bubbles that won't immediately pop, and then jumping on them. There are a lot of other levels where it's helpful to use the bubble bounce but thats the only one that it's completely mandatory, and it's way too hard with the given confines. That said, it's really the only weak part of the remake portion of the game, and it is beatable if you have the patience for that spot.

I need to play through Ducktales Remake, but I found the dialog scenes to be a pain too, even though the series is one of my favorite late 80s cartoons.
