had a lot of fun with this game. it might not be as original as people say it is and it's not the best game ever but it's still pretty great - probably the best Mother-like game that isn't an official Mother game. it helps that I like Earthbound, playstyle-dependent non-linearity, breaking the fourth wall and Toby's chiptunes (I just can't get Muffet's theme out of my head). I'm a bit afraid that its success will make everyone and their mother try to make Mother clones though, kind of like every indie game now has to have pointless roguelike elements.

After much delaying getting through the Core, I'm at the Barrier, about to fight SPOILERS.
I'm not emotionally ready for this. ;_;

I like the game a lot but I hate what the internet is doing (and will do) with it. Part of the heartache of being an EarthBound fan is that there will never be something quite like it again, because the fans will immediately explode as loud as possible all over the place.

What is the internet doing with the game that's negative? I know of reviews giving the game a lot of praise (which could cause some to be disappointed with their expectations being too high), but nothing that's really very bad?

I assume Ike is referring to the porn. Unless he isn't, in which case I apologize. I haven't went out to look for it, but as a popular new game that has a variety of anthropomorphic characters, well... you can imagine.

Because when people can't stop geeking out about something and making spoilery fanart of it and posting it everywhere it's hard to introduce anybody to the game in a way where they won't already know the gimmicks.
Wasn't aware of the porn, so that's another innocence I can say goodbye to

Wasn't aware of the porn, so that's another innocence I can say goodbye to Yeah. For example, at first /r/undertale was really good about avoiding spoilers, and then after a certain point they actively didn't care. It was an utter travesty. lurker: <cringes at Gawker link twice over, both for content and for being Gawker> EDIT: Oh, Markiplier played Undertale, THAT must be where all the clueless newbies came from. <sigh>
